Fribourg & Treyer Blackjack is an old standard, loved by straight Virginia fans. The name is somewhat misleading as you might expect a dark tobacco, but this is a broken flake red Virginia. The typical notes you would expect of flue-cured tobaccos are here - grass, hay, and wood, but there's a bit of citrus that weaves its way in and out. It produces a bit more smoke that you might expect, and the strength is also a step above most other similar blends. Red Virginia fans will almost certainly love Fribourg & Treyer Blackjack.
This tobacco delivers exactly as stated. Mild nicotine building to medium with a medium flavor profile. No bite. Smokes dry if not pushed. Not a WOW smoke straight from the tin but will give good results after ageing. Tasted better in a briar than a Cobb. Will order again

I am not a flowery writer but here goes.
I bought this tin because of the sale and I like Virginia tobacco.
The smell out of the tin is pure tobacco with that slight sweetness that comes from pressing the lead.
The first light had no flavor or harshness. Once the pipe was cooking there was a slight sweetness to the smoke and a very suttle tingle on my tounge.
This is a mild nicotine tobacco with plenty of flavor.
Will cellar well.
