American black Cavendishes are usually made of some form of Burley. Gawith Hoggarth Black Cavendish is the European form, made by fire-curing Virginia and casing it with sugars. The result is a bit more naturally sweet, and works beautifully as a blending tobacco to soften the sharpness of a blend.

A Pleasant Smoke
Smoking a bowl satisfies my taste buds, and gives me a good feeling of having been worth the time and money. The mild to medium strength gives me something to fill my need to have a smoke, by the time that I'm done, I feel special. I like the smell before and after smoking, it burns well, only relighting several times, it might be musk smell sort of, natural and sweet.

Excellent And unique Blender
Dark-fired black cavendish with a good dose of Gawith's proprietary Lakeland essence used in many of it's blends. Its not floral but more like spice, cinnamon and clove which melds wonderfully with the smoky qualities of the leaf. Despite being fired-cured leaf it's rather mild in nicotine. Flavor wise despite it's aroma it's somewhat neutral without pronounced sweetness. It's almost good enough to smoke on it's own which I have enjoyed but some added sweetness from other blending components will allow it to blossom in a synergistic way. It's a a little moist but burns well and is not cloying for an aromatic black cavendish. This would be an excellent blender to tame a sharper blend but will add a distinct aromatic spice note
