Gawith & Hoggarth Coniston Cut Plug Unscented

Gawith, Hoggarth & Co."s Coniston Cut Plug is comprised of 3/4 dark-fired leaf, with the balance equal proportions Virginia and Burley. Due to the large percentage of dark-fired, this plug is strong, smoky, spicy and full-bodied. A variety of flavorings combine to provide a slightly nutty, floral component, both in room aroma and in flavor. This cut plug is definitely for the experienced smoker. Coniston cut plug
This is what I smoke all the time. I really like it. It's not for everyone. It's an acquired taste. Very hard to describe. Buy a small amount at first and make up your own mind if you like it. I love it.

Unique and just strait up good.
Extremely good and unique. This has an incense quality to the room note that can only be described as such. It has a deep woodsy smell to accompany it. It reminds me of an old bookshop with that musty smell and incense. The flavor is great some of that incense quality comes through in the flavor but its not intrusive and just gives this a very unique flavor. I ordered 1oz to try it... im going to order a pound and cellar some and smoke the rest. The Virginia and Burley shine in this blend! Worth every penny and then some.

Nice.
Smoky and heady with power but the mellow soft Virginia plays through. It's like beauty and the beast. A very nice Autumnal smoke.

Age is the key....
After a few years of smoking it once in a while I've learned to adore it. Especially after cackling a five year old cellared jar of it yesterday. Had I known, I'd have cellared 5 pounds of it. Aging is the key here, guys. Yes, I did like it from the start, but I was a seasoned pipe man whom enjoyed many styles of tobacco, including blending my own, so I tended to lean toward good old English (styles) anyway. With age, Coniston mellows way down. The soapiness dissipates, as well as the quick bite that fresh cake tends to do. I highly recommend this blend, gents. If you like, say, Royal Yacht then I have a feeling you might enjoy a good aged Coniston. Enjoy.

Unscented For Hyposmia Sufferers
Second try at reviewing this tobacco. (Last review was not posted.) Extremely potent smell of Old Rose Sachet. Ghosted 2 of my favorite pipes. Smokes nicely and tastes fine, BUT ...the scent of the tobacco is overwhelming! It is marketed as "unscented." I have double bagged the stuff and it still reeks up the place. I assume the maker and the seller suffer hyposmia.

A Haunting Smoke
Smoking this tobacco is a pretty good experience. Lots of flavors coming and going. The problem is that the Rose Sachet scent is way too much! Smoking this stuff has ghosted 2 of my favorite pipes. The grandma's lingerie drawer odor oozes through plastic bags and taints everything the bags touch. It partially ruined my new bag of wonderful Bayou Nights. Buyer beware ..."unscented" is a very misleading name for this way over-scented tobacco. ...Or I received the mother load of stinker stuff by mistake. Phew++!

coniston cut plug
This tobacco has a quite pleasant spicy quality to it. Its a little sweet to smoke all day. But, it is kinda nice for an evening smoke or a sort of desert if you will. Not an all the time smoke, but nice on ocassion.

Take a Walk on the Wild Side
Unique, Exotic and Intoxicating !! I love a nice strong tobacco and this is strong with a one of a kind taste and room note. I must say the description as "soapy/floral" hits the nail right on the head. Sounds goofy but smokes mild and pleasant. No bite and very smooth. Another masterpiece from Gawith & Hoggarth. Not an everyday smoke for me but is a great change of pace once in a while. Take a walk on the wild side, give this a try.
Customer Testimonials
The description says it all. This tobacco, is very strong, full bodied and never boring. The "soapy" floral note isn't overpowering or as odd as you would think to the uninitiated. It's not strong but not subtle either, but seems to go well with the base spiciness of the tobacco. To me this was a heavy nicotine plug, not that I was complaining, I had a zen moment when I first tried it. This is definitely not one for the rookies, this one needs full attention and slow puffing, but given attention this is well worth it if your a fan of the traditional English burley tobaccos. I will definitely be ordering this again!
