|Tobacco||Burley, Perique, Virginia|
|Room Note||2 - Mellow|
GL Pease Barbary Coast is a unique and interesting blend. It all starts with a good measure of cubed Burley, which delivers a nutty and earthy character and a slow, cool burn. Some Virginia is added to provide some sweetness to avoid allowing the Burley to make the blend too heavy. Perique is added to deepen the flavor, while a light topping of brandy is added for a subtle influence in taste and aroma. Barbary Coast is a one of a kind blend that will appeal to a wide variety of pipe enthusiasts.
What a pleasure! My favorite from GL Pease, it burns smooth and slow and changes in character throughout the bowl, making this one blend I always smoke until there's nothing left to light. The brandy is most present in the first half of the bowl and compliments the tobaccos nicely, while towards the end of the bowl it fades to reveal a nice nutty flavor. While there are no strict aromatics in the Pease line of blends, this comes close. In fact, while Mr. Pease might call this sacrilegious, I really enjoy mixing Barbary Coast with a small amount of my favorite vanilla aromatic for my morning smoke. This is one that will always be on hand in my house.
