GL Pease JackKnife

The first in the New World Series from GL Pease, JackKnife Plug is an all natural blend of dark-fired Kentucky leaf and red, ripe Virginia tobaccos layered on a central core of golden flue-cured leaf. The whole provides deep, earthy flavors with a hint of bright sweetness. The tobaccos are pressed and matured in cakes before being cut into 2oz blocks. JackKnife is a stout blend with the dark-fired leaf adding a subtle smokiness and a finish reminiscent of dark chocolate while the Virginia tobaccos provide a sturdy backbone. Slice it thick and rub it out for a ribbon cut, slice thin for a shag, or chop it into cubes. The choice is yours and we’re sure you will savor it any way you choose.

Love it
Great blend! Has a savory/salty/smokey taste throughout. Needs a little drying before packing, but not much. Smokes smooth and leaves almost zero moisture in the pipe once finished. I grabbed two tins: one for now and one for aging.

Worth the wait
Very smokey blend, but also very savory. I like this blend after a long day outside. The first 1/4 of the bowl is extremely spicey, and it fades into an absolutely delicious, smokey experience further down. The flavor is outstanding. The only drawback of this blend is it can be difficult to prepare, as it is cut in very large slices within the plug. The work it takes to prepare is worth it, however. An all-day smoke for me. I will be buying more tins.

Oh Boy!!
Just cracked my 2 year old tin and had my first bowl of Jackknife Plug.......oh boy that's some good stuff. I'm Glad I got the big can with 3 plugs.

Good plug
It's rich and strong, no complaints about the product. I just wish Pipes and Cigars would request my input on their product, meaning their company. Too many gimmicky sales on starter kits and roll your own tobacco. Real pipe smokers want deals on real pipe tobacco.

Good hearty smoke. Open the can and it smells like smoke meat. Delish!

Great tobacco
This tobacco is a good, strong KY/VA blend that really satisfies. I recommend opening the tin and allowing the tobacco a few days to breathe before smoking. It will be well worth it.

The real thing!
Wonderful full strength Burley and Virginia Blend...strength with sweetness. Good in a briar, great in a cob. Big bowls are best I think. Sip it as it can be strong but the flavor and aroma don’t require hard puffing...take it easy and enjoy it, it’s a masterful blend, an unusual combination of strength and sweetness.

Mature Virginia Sweetness & Dark Fired Flavor
Excellent Va/Bur blend, and a great plug presentation. Smokes cool and dry with very little bite unless provoked. I love it in the evening with hot black tea and a drop of cream. This, and Captain Earle's Private Stock, are my two go-to everyday blends. It likes large bowls and some breathing room. It also likes to be sipped, and not puffed like a train stack. Superb Virginias and the smoky goodness of Dark Fired Kentucky, you just can't beat this.

American Beauty
What a great looking plug!! When you first opwn the tin you see a gorgeous block plug. Dark on the top and bottom and a golden flow in between. Smells great, a bit hardy the way this style should. Burns slow, very earthy, great tobacco taste, classic! Very strongly recommended for an enjoyable evening smoke.

A Savory Smoke
This is a fantastic smoke! From the second you crack the tin on this you experience a very savory, meaty tobacco. The tin note is unbelievable. It's a strong beef jerky/barbecue aroma that I could smell all day long. The taste is relatively simple, but it's very full flavored and provides a solid punch of nicotine. Buy a tin, enjoy the ritual of cutting and preparing the tobacco, and then sit back and enjoy!

Superb plug
This is just fantastic, pure, unadulterated old-time tobacco, and by far my favorite offering from G.L. Pease. The high quality red VAs lend a deep, slightly sweet earthiness, but the real star here is the rich, smoky KY dark-fired. Opening a can transports me back to burley barns firing mid-October in western Kentucky. Charring light seems almost pungent with cigar-like notes, but it settles down quickly to a rounded, faintly sweet and perfect harmony of VA and burley. Plenty of flavor, ideal nicotine, and plenty of long burning, cool smoking pleasure. I enjoy mine sliced thick and rubbed to a ribbon cut in a wide bowl, but I imagine this stuff will smoke sublimely any way you take it. If you enjoy real tobacco, you can't go wrong here.

Great baccy!
This is one of my favorites. Full flavored and smokes great. Be careful, you may get a nicotine buzz. Smoke easy and preferably after a meal. I truly enjoy this tobacco. First time I smoked JK, I tasted sublimely sweet raisins with a nutty flavor throughout. VERY tasty!!!

Customer Testimonials
1) First popped tin aroma: Hickory smoke, almost unnoticeably sweet, like a salty hickory BBQ sauce. 2) Resting plug aroma: Hickory smoke-house. 3) First Light: Heavy hickory smoke, almost unnoticeably sweet virginia, tongue and throat tingling with nicotine. 4) Middle of bowl: Wonderfully cool and dry burning, keeps ember superbly, sweet virginia more expressed. 5) Bottom of bowl: Feeling nicotine zing, lightly charred brown bread flavor. P.S. Smoked at proper moistness and slowly in Rattray's Butcher Boy 22 dedicated to non-aromatic hearty English blends and lit with matches, very few relights. Smoker's personal nicotine tolerance is low; smoker's personal nicotine sensitivity is somewhat high.

My current favorite! After trying vanilla, a couple of VaPer blends, CA, HGL, and Latakia (Gas Light; which is great) I think I'll stick to this one. Very nice smoke. Cobs have been my pipes of choice, plan to get a briar soon.

this is a fabulous smoke! just finishing my first bowl in my poul winslow pot. i cut it about 1/8" and rubbed it out letting it dry. i have smoked cigars for years and this reminds me of a padron family reserve. strong and flavorful. vitamin n is there but not overpowering. this is an after dinner smoke with a fine bourbon. i'm relatively new with a pipe and the blessed weed. just over a year. definitely one of my favorites. i also enjoy spc mississippi river and frog morton. sorry for not describing the flavor in a better way but i don't feel qualified. if you like a strong tobacco flavor in a slow cool smoke, try it.
