The first in the New World Series from GL Pease, JackKnife Plug is an all natural blend of dark-fired Kentucky leaf and red, ripe Virginia tobaccos layered on a central core of golden flue-cured leaf. The whole provides deep, earthy flavors with a hint of bright sweetness. The tobaccos are pressed and matured in cakes before being cut into 2oz blocks. JackKnife is a stout blend with the dark-fired leaf adding a subtle smokiness and a finish reminiscent of dark chocolate while the Virginia tobaccos provide a sturdy backbone. Slice it thick and rub it out for a ribbon cut, slice thin for a shag, or chop it into cubes. The choice is yours and we’re sure you will savor it any way you choose.
1) First popped tin aroma: Hickory smoke, almost unnoticeably sweet, like a salty hickory BBQ sauce. 2) Resting plug aroma: Hickory smoke-house. 3) First Light: Heavy hickory smoke, almost unnoticeably sweet virginia, tongue and throat tingling with nicotine. 4) Middle of bowl: Wonderfully cool and dry burning, keeps ember superbly, sweet virginia more expressed. 5) Bottom of bowl: Feeling nicotine zing, lightly charred brown bread flavor. P.S. Smoked at proper moistness and slowly in Rattray's Butcher Boy 22 dedicated to non-aromatic hearty English blends and lit with matches, very few relights. Smoker's personal nicotine tolerance is low; smoker's personal nicotine sensitivity is somewhat high.
My current favorite! After trying vanilla, a couple of VaPer blends, CA, HGL, and Latakia (Gas Light; which is great) I think I'll stick to this one. Very nice smoke. Cobs have been my pipes of choice, plan to get a briar soon.
this is a fabulous smoke! just finishing my first bowl in my poul winslow pot. i cut it about 1/8" and rubbed it out letting it dry. i have smoked cigars for years and this reminds me of a padron family reserve. strong and flavorful. vitamin n is there but not overpowering. this is an after dinner smoke with a fine bourbon. i'm relatively new with a pipe and the blessed weed. just over a year. definitely one of my favorites. i also enjoy spc mississippi river and frog morton. sorry for not describing the flavor in a better way but i don't feel qualified. if you like a strong tobacco flavor in a slow cool smoke, try it.
