GL Pease Robusto is an intriguing blend which combines sweet Virginias, earthy Orientals, smoky Cyprian Latakia and dark cigar leaf. The cigar tobacco is kept to a light amount as to support and enhance the rest of the leaf, not to become the main character. This is a very smooth and creamy smoke, and the cigar leaf adds rich volume. Robusto is a modern take on what used to be a very popular type of pipe tobacco.
This blend is top notch. A nice not-quite-sweet VA form the base. Small amounts of latakia, oriental/turkish along with a touch of maduro cigar leaf add a unique flavor profile that I would describe as peppery and smokey. I smoked a tin of this before making up my mind; now I have at least a pipe a day. Recommended.
