|Tobacco||Latakia, Oriental, Perique, Virginia|
|Room Note||3 - Balanced|
GL Pease Samarra is one of those tobaccos that straddles the lines of definition. Is it a Latakia blend with an Oriental-forward character, or is it more of an Oriental blend with a light amount of Latakia? In either case, this fine mixture of red Virginias and Orientals is given more body and depth by the inclusion of Latakia and a touch of Perique, and a bit of yellow Virginia is added for a vibrant sweet note. Try Samarra for a change of pace Latakia blend.
This was the very first tobacco I ever purchased(I also purchased a tin of Escudo...also a winner!). I saw a review of it on youtube and made the buy. 5 years later, I still smoke it consistently and enjoy it more and more as the years pass. It is an english/latakia blend through & through. But, very well balanced. Being a "pease" blend it has a nic hit for sure(Not overbearing) but pleasant in every way. Room note is medium to heavy and probably not a favorite for non-smokers but for me(being the smoker), what a wonderful fragrance! Flavor is medium over all and compared to other english blends probably on the heavier side. Can have a tenancy for relights as i find most pease blends to have. But, the relights are better than 90% of most tobaccos i've ever tried(of which are many). Tastes almost exactly the same as the 1st light. Burns consistent, flavor wise, all the way to the bottom and i find even the fragrance matures as the smoke progresses. This, as all of GL Pease blends are, is a better quality tobaccos. To be respected and enjoyed until the end. Buy with confidence & enjoy!
