If it's good enough for
If it's good enough for J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, it's good enough for me. It has become my favorite blend.

Reliably Great tobacco
Nice and moist when you pop her open. Smells woody, rich, and beautiful. Smokes great. Perfect for the salty sailor in your life! It’s my go to pipe tobacco.

Wonderful Smoke!
I like straight Virginias and this Captstan version is as good as they come!

No real wow factor alone
Has a mild citrus and vanilla tone. No real wow factor. I used the remainder for blending.

Very mild
Milder than Daughters and Ryan Platinum. I like it.

Complete lack of taste
Waited through everal backorders to get this and, oh my, how disappointing! I would rate it as "bland" rather than mild. Extremely one dimensional. At least it burns well! I may just use it as a base for blending.

Capstan is Great
I really enjoy the smooth Virginias in this blend. I would recommend it to anyone looking for that smooth, naturally sweet Virginia taste that is slightly aged and matured.

Just the ticket
I really prefer non-aromatics but interesting variety can be a little hard to find. Capstan is a nice departure without going to extremes. Long shaggy cut packs well, lights and smokes like a dream. Mild for long periods when concentration must be high and distractions low.

Capstan Ready Rubbed
I find that the Navy Cut Capstan is best. The flavor of Ready-Rubbed is diluted and slightly metallic tasting compared to the rich depth of the original. I will not purchase it in future and will remain true to the Navy Cut, which I purchased when it was made in Bristol by Wills. The Danish recipe is very very close to the original Medium Strength in the blue round tin. A friend of mine, the tobacco producer Greg Pease, said that a tin of the W.O. Wills is worth a small fortune IF you can find it. Thank heavens that the Danes trumped the Germans on duplicating the recipe. The German Capstan was atrocious gooey piffle. It did not cause any birth defects that I am aware of. That's something... Thanks for asking for my input, I hope it is of some assistance in finessing the product. When I return from a trip abroad I will order the Navy Cut once again. Best, Richard
