Ahhh...Gurkha Grand Age. When I first saw these gems, they came in a large, rustic crate that held 100 cigars. The presentation was so striking that I was drawn to the cigars. Then, when I saw that they sported an African Cameroon wrapper, I was sold. I tend to like fuller-bodied cigars, but I'll make an exception for a Cameroon. Once I tried them, I stocked up. I'm glad I did because they disappeared a while later. Now we've been able to get our hands on some and I couldn't be happier, and I think you will be too.
As I mentioned, Gurkha Grand Age starts off with a pale brown Cameroon capa that's silky to the touch. At the core are Dominican and Peruvian long-fillers, all contributing to a flavor profile that's got mildly-sweet notes of cocoa and caramel, with undertones of cedar, roasted nuts, baking spices, and a hint of anise. It's no wonder that these tasty morsels garnered a 90 rating. Even better, we've been able to get them without the fancy box so we can pass the savings along to you. If you're looking for a great medium-bodied cigar with a lot of complexity, you've found it.
