Gurkha Park Avenue Maduro

Gurkha Park Avenue has been a runaway hit, so it only made sense to make a maduro version, and here it is.

The same blend of Nicaraguan long-filler as Park Avenue are used in Park Avenue Maduro, but the Connecticut Shade wrapper is swapped with a dark and oily Nicaraguan Habano maduro capa. Park Avenue Maduro is a little fuller-bodied than the original, with a touch more sweetness and spice. This is a limited edition release, so get them while you can.

Buttery, mellow and enjoyable.
Writing this review as I’m smoking (my second stick of the pack of 5): Before lighting I get a slight sea salt note along with the smell of hay in the morning. After lighting and getting into the first third there is a a buttery nuance that’s very pleasing. The ash isn’t holding like a $12 cigar but I’m fine with that. Moving into the second third there’s a very (very) subtle bit of pepper flavor, not stinging, just pepper flavor along with a light cedar taste, the butteriness is also still present. A coffee note is becoming present on the retro-hale and it’s like getting the aroma of ground cofee or actually tasting coffee bean. When I set the cigar down and write this review I still get whiffs of sea salt. The burn is average, a little uneven and the ash is a bit flaky but the flavors are magnificent. If you have the time you’ll want to enjoy this smoke very slowly, the draw is perfect so I’m being careful not to steam train it. The cedar becomes more present into the second third, the butter note is still in the background. This would be an excellent Sunday morning cigar with a cup of drip coffee or a cold brew in hot weather, an espresso would cover the notes, this cigar is very mellow. It could also pair nicely with a fortified wine or while sipping brandy, I may try that next time. Getting into the final third the coffee and cedar notes come upfront with a touch of earthiness in the background. The butter has gone away but it’s still nice and smooth. I’m getting a nice mellow feeling from the nicotine but it’s not too strong at all, I’d say you could smoke this cigar on an empty stomach but that’s up to your personal tolerance. Slight re-touching and Halfway in the final third there’s more pepper on the front of my mouth and a dark rich coffee note is fully present. No bitterness suprisingly. Pros: Great cigar with smooth flavors. Cons: Flaky ash. Worth buying a pack of 20 at $3.50 a stick After a slight re-touching

Great smoke and great price
Very tasty cigar, glad I picked up a pack of them. but all in all the park avenue whether its the ct, maduro or the habano you'll have a enjoyable smoke especially for the price. I will certainly be buying more in the future possibly a box of them especially since my friends really enjoyed them as well.

Below Average
I have enjoyed Gurkha for years. I did not enjoy this one. Bitter, bitter. The old adage applies - Good cigars are not cheap, and cheap cigars aren't good.

Loved it!
I ordered these and some Padron's. The Gurkhas were a mellow smoke with rich but not overbearing flavor. I ended up giving away all of the Padrons. My friends were very happy and I didn't have to share any of the Gurkhas!

Bought these on a whim, glad I did. Love the texture of the wrapper. Smooth smoke all the way to the end. Will buy a box next time!
