Most tasty!
This is my second order of the 2 Oz sampler. I also made a second order of the Match Kentucky Mix to compare them. They are not identical but I like both. They are both less sweet than the typical aromatic and won’t goop up your pipe. They both taste like they smell (and they smell good) and are relatively strong, tobacco forward, and complex-tasting blends. They will not bite unless you draw on them really hard (so don’t do that). I still can’t decide which I like best but I will likely order more!

Dave’s thoughts
Derby Club puts in mind to me the original Kentucky Club blend as it was in the early ‘80’s. It has the same characteristics as the original blend, without the bite that I remember.

Good mild smoke. Enjoyable anytime
Good mild smoke. Enjoyable anytime of day and gives a relaxing feel to the time spent smoaking.

Hearth and Home Mid-Town Derby Club Aromatic
Not a bad blend. It has a good, medium-body flavor. Aroma is good- but I didn't feel that it came close to the blends that I consider to be the gold standard of pipe tobacco room notes- Lane 1-Q and Captain Black Royal. But I am glad I bought it and will enjoy smoking it.

Bravo H&H!
I have never smoked the original Middleton version, however my father used to smoke it a lot and the aroma/room note is very much like I remember. I definitely get the soft, nuttiness of the burley, the slightly spicy orientals is very light, but it's there. The perique is a pleasant, but light fruitiness in the background. It's sweet, but not too sweet. I was worried that this would have that Chemical aftertaste that I usually get from a lot of aromatics, but I taste nothing but quality tobaccos. The mouth feel is soft and smooth, with no harshness, but with plenty of body, with no bite, very nice. This is easily an all day smoke, I enjoy it with morning coffee. I only ordered a 2 oz. pouch, but I'm definitely going to order a tub. Bravo H&H, nice job on this blend!

Winner in the OTC type daily driver competition.
This is my choice for an OTC type blend; and daily driver. Packs very easy. Tried many of the other OTC and pouch offerings over the years. And this one just stands out. I still tend to get tongue bite with the heavy PG saturated tobacco's and I don't get that with this blend either.

Better with each bowl I smoke!
I added a pouch of this to an order just to try it out, I wasn't really expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised! It's your typical burley blend in some aspects, but it's also something more. I taste the burley foremost with a little incense from the orientals in the background, the splash of perique gives it a little spice and the virginia combined with the top note gives it a little sweetness, it's definitely growing on me with every bowl I smoke. It's a little moist, but probably what you would expect from an aromatic, but it's still tobacco forward enough to almost not be an aromatic. Stays lit well and burns nicely. I think I'll probably have to buy a tub of this blend, once I have smoked this pouch.

A step above the OTC blends
As I write this it is my top budget smoke. It packs well, has a nice flavor and room note. It burns very well. And I don't feel bad if I have to dump it early. I've tried many of the OTC pouches. And they just don't keep me satisfied for long. They all have their good and bad points. But Derby Club seems like a higher quality and keeps satisfying. Well past when I got bored of the other Burley forward OTC blends.

Relax with Derby Club
I never smoked the original Kentucky Club, but I am glad I gave this a try. I genuinely like OTC or "codger blends", and aromatic burley blends are my favorites. This is a great tasting, smooth all day smoke I was pleasantly suprised, will definitely buy again.

Still trying it.
Burns nice and is mild. Not worth the price when compared to my regular Admirals choice or Virginia gold.

Derby Club
Excellent mild all day blend with tobacco flavors even. A dash of perique makes this an outstanding blend indeed IMO.

Probably the best of the Midtown line. It's my go-to, everyday, anytime smoke.

Maybe not a match, but still darn good!
So far, I have sampled three Hearth and Home Mid-town Series tobaccos: “Chatham Manor”, “Chestnut”, and now “Derby Club Aromatic”. I think all these blends are really very good, but “Derby Club Aromatic” is the best of these with “Chatham Manor” a close second. “Derby Club” is a very smooth and mellow blend which still manages to have quite a bit of complexity and character. I smoked a lot of “Kentucky Club Aromatic” early in my piping history (early 1980s), but it has been a long time since I last smoked it and so trying to compare these two blends might not be very fair. Yet, it seems to me that Kentucky Club was NEVER this good! In any case, “Derby Club” is a rich, flavorful tobacco which manages to remain reasonably mild. It is definitely burley-forward, but the Virginia and Turkish make their presence known. The Perique is not strong, but it peeks in now and then, if you pay attention. The topping is there, but is subtle and works very well with the tobaccos. I would classify this blend as a light aromatic, at most. It isn’t too moist, it isn’t goopy, it lights and burns well and leaves little dottle. I would think this would easily be an all-day smoke for most (it is for me). “Derby Club” is a fine blend in my opinion, and it is definitely one of the 5 blends I’m looking for to always have on hand. For the price, it is hard to beat. Highly recommended!

Too much bite...
I wound up getting rid of the entire jar after only 3-4 bowls. It was incredibly bitter and not at all enjoyable.

A bit too mild
Derby Club isn't bad, it just seems to lack much substance or flavor although it would certainly qualify as an all-day blend.

Hearth & Home Mid-Town Derby Club Aromatic Derby Club Aromatic
It's a nice aromatic that is billed as being similar to the old Kentucky Club Aromatic which I used to smoke years ago. I like blending it with Half & Half- in fact I'm puffing it now as I write this.

OUTSTANDING!
I really enjoy this tobacco. I never tried the original, but decided to give it a shot based on the good reviews. It smelled wonderful in the tub and I packed some straight into a brand new cob. The tobaccos are balanced out perfectly. It's mainly burley forward but everything is there. The perique is a wonderful touch to the mix, adds just the perfect amount of spice. The virginia adds a little sweetness and the Turkish gives it a well rounded smoothness. The top note is not overly sweet at all and my wife loved the room note. It burns even and cool from beginning to end and leaves a fine white ash. I enjoyed Prince Andrew and Chatham Manor, but this one is my favorite by far. Great job P&C! Now if you would only PLEASE come up with a match for Kentucky Club Mild!

Wonderful blend
Derby Club Aromatic is an excellent pipe tobacco. I get a fruity brandy nose, packs easy, and smokes the same in just about everything I've put it through. Starts off sweet, but has a nice smoky incense in the background. As you keep going, a bit of sourness comes in to play with the sweet, and the incense gets more intense, adding a wood smoke tone to the bowl. Fairly consistent throughout the bowl, with flavors developing gently. I couldn't get it to smoke hot or bitter no matter how I tried. Thoroughly enjoyed it and this is one I will keep around!

Heavy stuff
This is by far one of the best tobacco's I have smoked, I really dig the old school 50's/60's smell from the tub/room note and the almost creamy flavour of the smoke, would definitely buy again

Not quite as tasty as Kentucky Club Comtinental Club
I was hoping that the Mid-town Derby Club Aromatic would be a replacement for Kentucky Club Continental Club but it has some thing missing. It doesn't smoke as well as KCCB nor does it have the flavor of KCCB. I am also trying Angler's Dream but that is not as smokable as KCCB.
Customer Testimonials
This is yet another outstanding blend offered by Russ and the great folks at Pipes and Cigars. Truly mild, mellow and with a great top flavor. As a Virginia Flake pipe smoker I really like this stuff and plan to keep it on hand at all times.

It's been ages since I had this- nice mellow blend, not too sweet.
CD of Bristol, CT
I have never smoked Kentucky Club aromatic. In fact I do not usually smoke any aromatic and was certainly hesitant to try this. I found it to be very flavorfull. It also mixes well with cigarette tobacco at a ratio of 3parts to 1 when making roll your own cigarettes. Highly recommended.
WD of Waterloo, NY
I never had smoked the Kentucky Club Aromatic so thought I would try this! A very mild tobacco, great tin aroma and a nice room aroma. Burns to bottom of the bowl with no bite. Will keep this in my rotation.
JK of San Bernardino, CA
Very mellow. Spot on in aroma and room note. The Turkish really comes through. Superior to the original in that it doesn't bite in the least. It's my favorite when sitting outside puffing my pipe and having a beer with my dog.
