After a protracted absence, Hearth & Home Signature Old Tartan is back due to customer requests, It's also an appropriate time for it to return with the trend toward aromatic Latakia blends.

From Russ - "When I was a kid, my father used to smoke a tobacco called Black Watch that had such a pleasant and unique aroma and tin note that I would sneak in the den when he wasn't around and I would pop the lid and just sniff it. It was a blend of mellow white Burley, a Virginia Cavendish, Latakia, and deertongue. When I started the Hearth & Home line in 2004, Old Tartan was one of my first blends since the local tobacconist that sold the original tobacco had gone out of business and many people missed the blend it emulates. Sadly, my dad never had the chance to try my homage to his tobacco, but I'm sure he would have been pleased. We decided to not use deertongue going forward as there are some questions about health concerns, but we found a company that makes a product that's identical in aroma and flavor without the component that causes concern.

If you're looking for a blend with a distinctly old-time flavor and aroma with just enough Latakia to give it depth and a bit of smokiness, then you'll want to try Hearth & Home Signature Old Tartan.

Best of the bunch
Got this in a sampler. It was definatly the standout in the bunch. Just the right amount of flavor without having to really draw for it and never harsh. Very full round flavor. This is my #1 or #2 favorite tobacco depending on the day. BUT, now I come back to order some more,,,, and it is no longer available. Yer breaking my heart guys!

you can feel the dedication in this blend
with some blends, they can be simple and well put together with some complex blends it can feel the same way that they are simple and one note but pleasing none the less. This is complex, pleasing mix that many ingredients join together to make one experience simple but all encompassing. Its like a hug, one event but many nuances. It reminds me a bit of Cornell & Diehl Old Crooner, but less sweet, no deer tongue and more simply pleasing. Nuttiness of the burley comes together with some cardamom / nutmeg notes and to me something a little bitter. It is for sure a daily blend

Fairly new to pipe smoking
Fairly new to pipe smoking and this was the first blend I've tried with latikia. Though it's not super strong it gave me a hint of what latikia tase like and I was instantly hooked.

An old standby; it's growing on me....
I like sampling blends from older days. This one is subtle, but flavorful, and reminds me of something my Scottish Grandfather would have smoked when I toddled along with him to the Tavern, when mom was busy with other things. If it evokes memories like that, I can understand why Russ brought it back.

Gets better with each bowl..........
I find this stuff really grows on me. it's just the right amount of Latakia and whatever the deer tongue replacement is ? It keeps you going for that next sip which makes for a very contemplative smoke. This is going to be a permanent in my rotation. definitely all day smoking pleasure with this blend. Now you can't ever get rid of it.

Fantastic blend
After reading a few reviews I had to order some Old Tartan. It is by far one of my favorites in my current stable. It has great flavor with a hint of sweetness that makes it easy to puff just enough to keep it lit. I highly recommend taking your time with it and enjoying the more delicate notes brought out by smoking it slower and a bit cooler. Old Tartan will be in my lineup for a long time to come!

Old Tartan
Bold and unique flavor, yet very smooth. Pleasant room note. It’s one of my favorite blends to enjoy by the fireplace and relax before bed.

Put on your Buchanan tartan
On the back porch, smoking Hearth & Home Signature Old Tartan as I write this. An addition to your line up which is what you are looking for. Add it to your normal rotation of modern Scottish inspired blends.

Big brave
Excellent traditional smoke. Although it burns quickly.

Nice, sweet, unique
This is everything I ever want from a natural/aromatic. It is sweet and doesn’t bite, but also has a complexity that makes it truly satisfying. When it came back in the market I immediately bought 8 oz...and I am so glad I did!

Very interesting
Never tried an aromatic with Latakia in it . I've even heard and read that it's a no no. I do like this combo. An excellent taste, and the smokey taste, with me, toward the end, is satisfying. My gf likes the room aroma. A good "English Aromatic".
