The Hilson pipe factory is sadly no longer in business, but their reputation ranks them with some of the best manufacturers of their day. The company made thousands of pipes a month at one point and were a staple in many collections. Because of their high volume sometimes groups of pipes got misplaced, or they fulfilled an order for a customer that never paid. At P&C we have access to these rare finds and are able to buy them at special pricing. Buy don’t let the price fool you, these are truly vintage pipes that were produced in the 1970’s. Hilson Vintage Special Grain pipes come from the top-quality grades of briar that were harvested decades ago. The shapes are classic Hilson and the grain will blow you away.
Nice little pipe for a good price. Light pipe but perfect for me. Easy to clamp down on( I have weak teeth). Gurgles a little bit but not too bad. Looks very nice for a machine made pipe. Didn't clean mine it looked brand new for a vintage pipe. Smokes good too.

Fun Eleganance

This Hilson pipe is very elegant, calling to mind images of refined men relaxing in their study, gently puffing on a delicate blend of orientals while reading through some leather clad edition of some classic work of English literature.
All fun aside, Pipe stem was a little sticky, requiring an ever so light sanding in the stremmel. Not sure how this happen, but there was one tiny bit of bulge internal that had to be cleaned up, otherwise at some point the stem would break. I recommend a good internal wiping with some pipe sweetener or rum/spirit of your choice to pick up any dust that has collected in the bowl. Grain is stunning, so much so I purchased 2 more shapes. Gives a 45 minute smoke, bore looks straight and smokes like a charm. Oh, not mentioned in description this pipe is equipped with a metal stinger.
