This is a pipe that feels good to hold. I am just breaking it in, so that will have to wait. The one improvement I see is that the banding is on the bit (purely decorative) rather than on the shank where it would strengthen the shank. Due to the square shape of the shank, the thin sides are the weakest point of the pipe. My favorite bent bulldog broke at just that point many years ago. So, for a bulldog pipe, band the shank!

The bowl on this pipe is beautiful and well crafted, the stem is beautiful but the stem insert? is flimsy and cheap.

This John Bull X-Mas edition not only looks good but it is a great smoking pipe. It stays lit every time. Even with moist tobaccos and with its large bowl I get plenty of smoke time. I highly recommend this pipe, or any John Bull pipe for that matter as I have 3 of them. All great smokers.
