John Cotton's Double Pressed Creme Sale

Here's a first for the rapidly growing John Cotton's Double Pressed series, John Cotton's Double Pressed Creme. What makes it unique is that it's the first member if the lineup with a mellow aromatic note. It begins as a flake tobacco made of Virginia and black Cavendish and then rubbed out. The tobaccos are given time to allow the leaf to re-oxygenate to liven the flavor and to prepare for the next step. Then the tobaccos are pressed again into a crumble cake, so further fermentation can take place. But what really makes the difference is a subtle bit of vanilla to give it a slight sweetness and a pleasant room note. Now you can see what time and pressure can do for an aromatic blend.

Excellent
One of my favorites. If you like a smoky vanilla, it's one of the best out there. I rotate between this and Mac Baren Vanilla Flake Cut. Both excellent.

Never knew I needed this
Honestly, I had no idea what to expect. I cracked the tin and I was wondering if it tastes as good as it smells. What a beautiful surprise. Fruits and vanilla and a little spice. Crumbles and packs super easy. I'm buying a couple more tins

If it’s made by J.C., it’s heavenly
I’m not going to get all geeky writing about the room note and the flavor and the top note and look at me knowing words etc. etc. etc. I’m just gonna tell you it’s damn tasty tobacco. My only regret is that it doesn’t come in much larger plugs.

Double pressed Creme
Like description says it comes as a cake. Slice off with my pocket knife and rubbed to stuff. Good smoke. Not my all time favorite but really enjoyable. Mild sweetness on the draw. Not much of a tin note. Enjoyable mild vanilla taste. Sip slowly for the flavor or can burn hot.

So this is a great
So this is a great blend of pressed Cavendish. It's smooth and has a softer more pleasant room note than other branded flavored aromatics

VERY TASTY LIGHT ARO BLEND!
John Cotton's Double Pressed Creme is a excellent blend! Have had a tin in the closet for a few months, picked up when it was on sale as the price is a bit steep for a Sutliff blend IMO. However this one still gets 5 stars since it is a very tasty blend. Once opened you are presented with a crumble cake similar to War Horse Bar in appearance. The scent is slightly sweet but not overpowering or cloying, more of a mild sweetness. A small chunk had broken off during handling so I crumbled a bit and immediately packed a bowl (Peterson Dublin Castle) and fired it up. This blend burns perfectly with no relight and produced thick clouds of smoke with no Tounge bite, although it could bite if puffed way too fast due to the great burn quality. The flavor is about medium same for the Nic. Have slowly been working thru the tin and plan on picking up another tin to age a bit more since im curious to see what a few years woyld do to this blendm hopefully this blend is around for years to come as this has been a surprisingly top notch smoke that turned out much better than imagined. If this sounds like something you may like them pick up a tin just don't expect a goopy aromatic or a English Blend since this is neither. Simple complexity in a easy burning crumble cake. The world is a good place sometimes:)

Quintessential pipe tobacco
When I think of pipe tobacco and the smell of my grandfather and his pipes the smells and flavors from this tobacco or what come to mind. For reference my favorite tobacco is Seattle pipe clubs plum pudding special reserve. So normally I am either in English or Balkan tobacco smoker. This blend has a very subtle room note and also very subtle sweetness. The flavors I pick up our mainly honey maybe a slight vanilla. However those flavors are subtle enough for the actual Virginia tobacco to come through. This is pretty much the only aromatic tobacco I will smoke

Mild aromatic
This is a great blend for the pipe smoker who enjoys more mild aromatics. I am mainly an English blend smoker, and this really suited my taste. The vanilla top note and flavoring are present, but the Virginia's taste still shines through magnificently. Very mellow, very pleasant. Smoke slowly, I got a little ahead of myself and starting freight training it and it got a little hot. If you're sipping it and relaxing this will not be an issue. Didn't have to dry it out of the tin, it packed and burned perfectly. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that it didn't blow me away. It was however, well worth the purchase.

Creme is creamy!
Nice flavorful bowl. The vanilla comes through but never produces that acid so typical of an aromatic blend.

One of the best slight aromatic blends available
Currently my favorite tobacco by far. Could easily be an all day smoke except for the price but still worth every penny. A perfect blend and just enough on the aromatic side to give it an almost melt in your mouth, buttery vanilla flavor and I'm not a big fan of vanilla. Highly recommended!!

Would Recommend
I've been curious about the Double Pressed series for a while, but I was sure that my wife would not approve of any of the previous offerings. My personal palette leans toward Virginia, Perique, and Latakia, but my wife prefers that I smoke aromatics. As I'm sure is common among pipe enthusiasts, I'm constantly on the search for blends that we both find appealing. This stuff is great. The topping is not overly sweet, but it provides a lovely room note. I usually rotate my blends so as not to get bored with anything, but I keep coming back to this one before it's place in rotation comes up. Other reviews have spoken more eloquently about the particular flavor nuances, so I'll just leave it here. Will definitely purchase again.

Excellent.
This stuff is fantastic. It's not like any aromatic I've had before. It's not sticky sweet or lack of dimension. Nope, it's super tasty with complexity and dimension. I mean just wow. Personally, I like to switch between English, to Aromatic, to Vaper so that every bowl is new and different, and I don't get so used to one thing that it loses its charm for me. Thus, I always rotate. And let me tell you, this stuff is really good. Not overly sweet. Some sweet flavor yes, but not overly done and is Very complex and interesting. I bought two tins a week ago, and just now placed an order for 4 more. I mean, wow. This stuff is good.

A Pleasant Smoke
The aroma is wonderful vanilla, my first bowl also, tasted good as, the second bowl I discovered other flavor beside Virginia, dark tobacco from Kentucky. I like the long burn, with one or, two lights, this works well during the pipe staying in your mouth while, doing some activity. I decided for the second bowl, to show more appreciation by enjoying the taste because of the delicious aroma, that started at the first light. I like the smell and taste which, brings a memory of pipe tobacco being really worth it.

Seriously Good / Complex and Interesting
To be honest, my first thought was, sure, just what the world needs.... yet another sweet, no-dimension, vanilla topped tobacco. HOWEVER I was wrong. Since John Cotton hit a home run for me with the Latakia Pressed, i thought "why not?" I like bouncing from a good Vaper to an English, to an Aromatic just like with food.... We don't just eat dessert, or only vegetables, or steak only. A great dinner hits them all, which is pretty much what I do every evening (or all day on the weekend). I don't want my taste buds to get so used to one thing they don't appreciate the difference. So i mix it up. Point being, the different types check off different boxes of taste. Anyway, about John Cottons Double Pressed Cream: This stuff is freakin fantastic. It checks off boxes in more flavor areas for me than just about anything I've smoked! It's complex for sure. It's dark flavored, The double pressing and aging gives it great complexity. Its not super sweet - it's super tasty. Is thete vanilla taste to it? Yes, but not pedestrian vanilla. It's like meat (hear me out) there's a big difference between the silver dollar sized "meat patties" in a Big Mac, and a medium rare rib-eye at Harris's steak on Van Ness St in San Francisco. This vanilla is like the rib-eye. I bought 2 tins to try out, but I'm stocking up right now just in case.

Pleasant taste
This is a nice blend and don’t let the name catch you up into thinking too much about a sugar-type taste

Pressure + Time + Aromatic = Very novel and unique blend
John Cotton's Double Pressed Creme is such a marvel, but be warned you need some experience to really appreciate it. This is a significantly superior product to others attempting to incorporate fermentation and pressure into their blends. It's simply done right and the flavor as well as the experience are testament to this. Just make sure you dry only the portion you'll be smoking for about 30-45 minutes (break it apart prior to drying). Pack light cause it expands like crazy in the bowl and can burn very hot. Smoke very slow and you will get such a unique aromatic flavor it's hard to describe, like plain effervescent and slightly tangy Kefir mixed with vanilla ice cream. Room note is ok-ish for guests but note Mrs. approved
