Lane 1-Q Tins

When I first bought this I didn’t like it at all. Then one day a few months later I wanted more. Has a good smell. Tastes pretty good. Nicotine is medium / high ish? Burns great for me. Kind of moist but not dry. It’s right in that sweet spot. I just can’t smoke it every day. I can smoke it all day but need a break. Vanilla flavor and scent just seems natural in this blend. It’s strange. I would suggest buying some and just keep it around. You might end up like me? Not committed but intrigued I guess? lol

Very pleasant smell both before it is lit and afterward. Very smooth with no bite.....blends well with black cavindish. My favorite tobacco!

Classic vanilla aromatic. Nothing too complex, but a great all day smoke with a amazing room note.

Very smooth and tasty tobacco

My wife loves the smell, and I love the smell coming out of the tin. But the flavor of the lit tobacco is quite disappointing. Pretty much like smoking hot air, I get absolutely no flavor when smoking this blend. That being said, I am a primarily non aromatic, full bodied blend type of guy. If you routinely smoke full flavored Englishs, or strong vapers, you won’t get much flavor is any out of this tobacco. It’s a wife pleaser. Only reason I haven’t thrown jt out.

the smell my wife wanted to find. out of the tin, and smoked as well, it is as advertised; the soft and wonderful smell of piping. If you're looking for strong flavor and more nicotine, look elsewhere. I love this tobacco.

I've been smoking 1-Q going on 15 years now. It's just a great smoke, and I always get compliments on the aroma. The order and delivery from Pipes and Cigars is first rate. Other outfits take twice as long to deliver, and the postage is twice as much. All good.

Great tobacco. Have used this blend (originally purchased in my local Pipe Store, "Hariels" - which no longer exists). They led me to the supplier they used. That supplier doesn't have Lane 1-Q in stock but recommended Pipes & Cigars, which did have it. I bought this tiny amount to check quality. Found it excellent and ordered a large amount.

Lane 1-Q is a nice smooth blend with a soft, traditional aroma. My wife says it reminds her of her grandfather. I believe Lane 1-Q will now become one of my favorites.

I’m new to pipe smoking and so far Lane 1-Q is at the top of my go to list. I started off smoking burley blends including Prince Albert and realized I like more of a cavendish blend with less burley... seems to be more my palette and gives me less tongue bite. I compare the 1-Q to Captain Black Royal. Both VERY smooth with the perfect room note!

Lane 1-Q uses good tobacco. The smoke is extremely light and mild, and it produces a whispiness. The mouth feel is very light, and the flavoring is mild. I like the lightness at times when I don't want a heartier smoke.

Smooth, great smoke. No flavors that jump out which is a good thing. I can see this being even more exceptional if you grab a tin and let it age.

The Lane Limited 1-Q is everything it you said it would be. I only Light Up my Pipe in the evenings, after work, and on the weekends, always with a High-Ball glass of Cognac, or my favorite Bourbon. The soft vanilla notes from the 1-Q compliment the aromas from the libations. Thank you for listening, and I would seriously recommend this smoke to anyone the enjoys kicking back and relaxing, and enjoying a little time outdoors to unwind from the days troubles.

I bought this Tin based on the label description and several reviews (I like pleasing blends with vanilla). I was hooked on my first bowl. This is blend has no bite, burns cool and is semi-moist...highly recommend you try this tobacco.

Not bad, not bad! I am a aromatic piper and I though I would give it a try! It is on the lighter end of the aromatics. Not as flavorful as a thought but the tobacco has a great flavor! Just for me would have liked some more vanilla! I was very impressed Lane Limited without fail seems to smoke the bowl, top to bottom with same experience. Didn't experience much change in flavor,and from the top to the bottom of the bowl stays lit without much relighting or finicky messing about! Good Smoke!

Everyone says this is one of their favorites, but I think it's dreadful - The tin note is ok, but the taste of this is really offensive for some reason. I love aros, so I'm confused how this is the "king of aromatics", or one that every pipe smoker recommends

I loved it..I almost pick up a plum taste to it but very faint. Very nice first pipe smoke ever! I typically smoke hookah and i love the mild smoke and this just made a huge impression on me! I mean nothing to wash or put together! Great for after work smoke! I love it and this tobacco has captured my attention for sure! I will keep this tobacco on stock. Mild, flavorful, and plum sweetness which is not overbearing at all!

This is a very nice smoking tobacco that is a good staple for an everyday smoke. Better in the bulk then in the tin in my opinion.

Excellent aromatic! I have smoked a few other aromatics and never really cared for them. I always felt like I was getting my tongue tattooed. When I smoked Lane 1-Q it was completely bite free from the top of the bowl to the bottom. Great smoke. I would definitely recommend.

I have resumed pipe smoking after a thirty year hiatus. I sought out old favorites: Carey Classic Black Aromatic, Escudo, and Erinmore. (My tastes are all over the place, eh?) I started reading online reviews and pipe tobacco catalogs. I noted a lot of comment on the wonders of Lane 1-Q. I had not even heard of it in my previous foray, thirty years ago, so I had to try some. The tin promptly arrived -- thank you. I smoked a couple of bowls bowl. Yep. For a reasonably light aromatic, it is a most enjoyable smoke. The wife doesn't like the smell. Oh well. I apologize for the puerile nature of this review, but I'm not conversant with the various terms and definitions. I'm still trying to figure out what YABO means..... Anyway, thank you for your wonderfully edifying catalogs.

I tried 1-Q for the first time today. To set the scene, it was mid-morning on a 70 degree day without a cloud in the sky. I dropped the kids off at preschool and picked up a cup of coffee. I got home, packed up a bowl in my Brog Dyktator with 9mm filter, and sat on the front porch to enjoy the country morning. 1-Q is a bite-free medium blend with a taste/note that reminded me of my Father's pipes from when I was a child. I had the house to myself, so I kicked back in my rocker with the dog at my feet, relaxed, and did some deep thinking. I would descried the taste as thought-provoking and uplifting. It went great with my coffee and put a smile on my face. I may have found a new favorite.

First time pipe smoker, very first pipe tobacco - however when I opened the tin the smell of this tobacco reminded me of Fig newton cookies, smoke was very pleasant not over powering and left a nice sweet aroma in my corn cob pipe afterwards. Will continue to buy and smoke.

I've smoked Lane's 1-Q all of my pipe smoking life, as my father did before me. It's at the top of my list when I want an aromatic (i.e. anytime my bride is in the vicinity). I've always purchased it in bulk, but I now love the tins. I buy two at a time, one for now, and one to put back for a few years. I'm interested to see how these age. Pipe smoking is not a competition - so smoke what you like. And I like 1-Q in tins.

Too sweet for me straight up, but mixed a 7/1 blend, of 7 parts quality Virginia-Burley blend, to 1 part Lane 1-Q, and that did it for me. First few puffs, were a cool menthol-like sensation in vanilla, before the Virginias kicked in for a sweet caramel note. The middle third of the smoke reminded me of toasted coconut, but at one point (perhaps the drier Virginia/Burley had burned away, leaving the smoke treated Cavendish) I hit a almost euphoric sweet spot, that I would compare in sensation to my Mother’s Toll House cookies. The last third went from rich pecan pie, to maybe sugar maple smoke. No bad after taste. A most enjoyable smoking experience.

Very pleasant, a yummyness to it, sweet finish, a very tasty pleasant smoke. Not complex, a basic single flavor. The sweet finish is a nice touch without tasting like your smoking a bon bon.

There is a reason why: "This mixture has been the largest selling bulk pipe tobacco in the United States for decades." IT WORKS. It is smooth as a smoke and softly sweet, but strong enough, too. I like using it as a component added to my Desk Mix, made up of all sorts of stuff that happens to be laying around.

This is my absolute favorite tobacco. It smells amazing in the tin and has an excellent room note. I get complimented on its smell very often. It has a very mild sweet taste, perfect for an everyday smoke.
