Lane Vanilla Black Cavendish

You see a lot of references to tobacco as being "an all day smoke" or "bite free". I've yet to find a tobacco that fit that description until I discovered this one. It truly is a mild, flavorful all day smoke. You can taste the sweet vanilla from the first puff to the last. I've been smoking pipes for almost 50 years and this is truly the first "bite free" tobacco that I've found. I hope they bring it back.

Second review. It is like a small miracle to me that this is available again. Hallelujah!!! This has become my numero uno Big Kahuna, all day and every day tobacco. The best tobacco in the world for me. I had just ran out and had already come to the conclusion that all I really want to smoke is this and was so sad and depressed when I saw it was no longer available. I spent too much money looking for a suitable replacement but honestly, nothing really comes close. It is my absolute favorite, and I bought a pound as soon as I saw it was back, by some small miracle. May it always be around. Like another reviewer said, it is the only tobacco that actually tastes like it smells. The vanilla aroma/taste is the strongest I've ever had and you can actually taste the vanilla by just inhaling on the filled and unlit bowl of your pipe. This is a bite free aromatic lovers dream of a tobacco and if you start smoking it, you probably won't want to smoke anything else, like me. Buy it today, you won't be sorry.

This is my "go to" vanilla tobacco. The vanilla flavor is rich and unique. There's nothing else like it. And I use it in a mixture of my own.

I was so excited to try this tobacco. After reading how much Lane is respected and liked. However, i was actually a bit underwhelmed by the vanilla. I really could not distinguish it as i was smoking it. It had a great room note and was mild in strength like i prefer. I just wish the vanilla stood out more.

If you're someone who typically doesn't enjoy aromatic blends because they don't have as good of a flavor compared to an English, I recommend giving Lane Vanilla Black Cavendish a try. It has a great vanilla flavor that is very rich, with a great mouth feel. This one actually tastes a lot like it smells. It's also very forgiving if you smoke it too fast. I've not experienced any tongue bite with this one, but I do try to smoke slowly. I'm someone who primarily smokes English blends, but have been smoking indoors more lately with the cold weather. I try to smoke aromatics if I'm near other people (like my wife). This blend definitely hits the spot for me smell and taste-wise. It will stay in my rotation. It would also be good if you wanted to mix it with another blend to add more sweet vanilla flavor.

My absolute favorite vanilla blend! It’s excellent when smoked straight, but I find that I use it mostly as a bed to pack other blends on or sprinkled in blends for a subtle sweetness.

One of my absolute favorites, im tending to lean towards back Cavendish lot lately. The smoke has a nice butter vanilla smooth room note. I give this on my top quality of tobacco list as of now. I've already ordered 2 big orders probably order more to cellar.

One of my standards, along with Mac Baren's Plumcake, and a 50/50 Virginia - Burley mixture. This is bite free even if you puff pretty hard. I pack lightly and use the breath method with all my tobaccos. Mellow taste. More flavorful than 1Q for me. Everyone loves the smell, though I only smoke outdoors or in the garage in the winter time. Tastes even better indoors. Mix it with Virginia to make something like 1Q, though Lane BCA mixed with Virginia seems to be closer to 1Q than using Virginia Black Cavendish. But why do that when you can just buy 1Q? I do not know, just an idea.

Very new to pipe smoking but this one really stood out and I've been sampling many lately. The smoke actually tastes sweet with notes of chocolate and vanilla. Will be ordering much more next time. Highly recommend if your into smooth sweet aromatics.

Excellent tobacco. Very little tongue bite, if any. Nice flavor, sweet & smooth. Every once in a while you'll catch a taste of the butterscotch that they claim is in there. Smells great out of the bag and haven't had any complaints from those around me. My only complaint would be that it's a bit sticky when pinching it out of the bag. I always end up with a sticky film on my fingers that leaves tobacco stains on anything I touch if I don't wipe it off. The flavor & smoke are worth it though.

Seems to be a little less robust than years ago, but still a nice product. I like to mix it 60/40 with Captain Black Royal.

I am a Cavendish smoker. This is a good smoke, and in the same league as Captain Black Dark, which is my everyday smoke. The smell is very pleasant and the taste is enjoyable without being overpowering. It burns well with the normal relights. It is a moist tobacco but not goopy. It is obviously a Black Cavendish blend with a nice layer of vanilla. It would be a good mixer. I will have this around if I ever run out of my Captain Black Dark.

Vanilla Black Cavendish has always been one of my favorite tobaccos. I'm used to Captain Black or having my own blend of vanilla black Cavendish, Virginia and a vanilla blonde Cavendish. Lane Limited Vanilla Black Cavendish is very close to the flavor, texture, and room note of those that I'm used to.

I really enjoy this tobacco. It not only has a great aroma but it also tastes great. It's my everyday smoke. No bite but sometimes if you smoke down to the dawdle it can get a little bitter. So I've learned not to smoke that far down.

I love this stuff. So tasty and if you love cavendish and vanilla, you will love it. This has replaced Lane's BCA as my new favorite. So far, I would say this has the best vanilla taste of any tobacco I've had, aromatic or cavendish. The smell in the bag is heavenly and I have been told it smells good by non=smokers. This is in my top 3. I also recommend Russ' Cavendish in the Woods for another excellent Cav. All 3 tobaccos mentioned above are my faves.

This is a great black cavendish with a creamy Carmel/Vanilla flavor and aroma. It is very smooth and never a bite. I can't determine if I like it better on its own or mixed with BCA or Smokers Pride black cavendish. It stays lit and is cool to the finish. It may seem too moist in bag when when received, but smokes great without drying. I get many compliments on aroma, especially at golf course. It tastes and smells so good there is a 'danger' in smoking too much...ha ha.

Lane tobaccos are a mainstay. Tried this after reading all of the reviews. Glad I did. First impression was not too sweet and gets less sweet as it dries. One of the few tobaccos that you unexpectedly crave. Will purchase again.

This is hands-down, my favorite tobacco. I'm a relatively new smoker, only been into for about 2 years, and this is my go-to. It is extremely smooth, vanilla-flavorful, and has a great room note for the wife. I go through about 16 ounces of this stuff per month, I would smoke it in my sleep if I were able to. If you love aromatic smokes, this is 100% for you.

I am not great with describing smells or flavors, but this was fantastic and would highly recommend. I have been looking for the same Vanilla Back Cavendish my dad used to smoke for a while now and this was it. Smells fantastic even in the bag (an honestly works great as a car freshener haha)and the aroma it gives off is very pleasant so people around you wont be complaining. The flavor isn't strong, but definitely is not mild, it is very relaxing and tastes sweet.

I find the Vanilla Black Cavendish to be a wonderful tobacco. There is no bite, it smokes evenly throughout the entire bowl, and the room note is a wife pleaser. My only negative is that I find the vanilla flavor to be a little strong, more like butterscotch. Still, it is firmly in my rotation. Enjoy!

The smell of this tobacco is amazing, before and after you light it up. The smell stays on your fingers for you to enjoy even after you smoke and the smell and taste during is also great!

Sometimes, I just want a nice, sweet mild vanilla smoke. This does the trick. Perfect in the evening with a glass of Tennessee whiskey. Burns awesome, not goopy, and smells awesome.

Great vanilla flavor mixes well with BCA for a oreo smell.

It left me with a good smoke experience, but left a strong scent in the room long after I smoked. The wife found it annoying, LOL!!!

wanderful. lay it out to dry for about three hours, nice fresh. the flavor really comes out after you lose some moisture. use a wide bowl with loose draw. beautiful aroma.

This blend is my absolute favorite blend to smoke. I've tried just about every blend of Lane Limited, and this my favorite. My wife enjoys the room note also, which is a big plus. I would not label myself a sophisticated connoisseur of tobacco blends, as I've only been smoking for about one year. However, as someone who is younger (30's) and new to pipe smoking, this was extremely pipe-novice-friendly. By smoking it in my Corn Cob, I had zero tongue burn, packed easily, burned evenly and smooth, without any relighting. I would highly recommend this!

I absolutely love this blend. Opening the pouch brings a wonderful aroma of butterscotch and a warm baked vanilla cake that my grandmother used to make. There is a nice tobacco flavor and this blend is very smooooth. Highly recommended if you like Cavendish tobaccos, you'll love this blend. I prefer it over BCA which used to be my go to Cavendish blend.

Best black cavendish I've had. Great by itself or blended with many other blends. Very mild, never a bite. The room note is fantastic. It has a rich caramel/vanilla room note. People, even non-smokers, really compliment it.

I have been a Lane Limited tobacco smoker for about three years now. I have smoked and love BCA, Black Raspberry, Big Red. I like Lane Vanilla Black Cavendish but I don't love it and here's why. It dries my mouth when I have my pipe in my mouth and I am not puffing on it to keep the tobacco lit. And that brings up another point, I have let the VBC (Vanilla Black Cavendish) dry out in my humidor so that it would stay lit longer but that has not happened, I still have to keep relighting the tobacco. Otherwise this tobacco tastes great and I've been told that it has a good fragrance also. So I only gave it 4 stars.

I’ve probably tried a hundred tobaccos and blends over the years and all have their pros and cons, some less than others. But this pipe tobacco is literally without any cons for me. It’s so good, that I also use it to improve less than stellar blends that I’ve bought and are taking up space on my pipe shelf. In fact, some of my favorite invented blends contain this vanilla cavendish and an old standard like Velvet or Half and Half.

My favorite for some time has been lane's BCA...I don't really go for flavored blends..But, this vanilla black Cavendish is really really good...Every thing I look for...lots of creamy white smoke, nice slow burn, no bit at all, the cut I prefer (I do give a gentle rub to it), and a robust smooth cavendish taste...It comes a bit moist, but I like it ..I keep my cigars and pipe tobacco at 72% in my humidore...It compares closely to my favorite cigar..Drew Estate's Liga Privada #9

Of the many varieties of vanilla Cavendish out there. The Lane vanilla Cavendish is at the top of my list. It is great by it self and is a very good mix with other tobaccos.

It has a good aroma and has no bite. However it is very moist and I found that mixing it with Lane IQ that it gives a great taste with no bite, with a pleasant aroma, and a nice pipe smoking treat.

This is as advertised a mellow vanilla scented blend. However it is very moist. I mix this with another Lane blend. I have ordered another bulk bag to mix the remainder of the the LLVB. Letting the LLVB dry out while waiting for the arrival of the mixer.

Great vanilla aroma and flavor, but the tobaccos still make their presence known. Everyone in the house liked the room note. With a few minutes airing, VBC burns slowly, produces clouds of smoke, and leaves a fluffy grayish ash with no goop. Smoke slowly and the pipe stays dry. Rush it and you will get a puddle. Highly recommended to aromatic lovers and vanilla lovers.

Almost feel like it should be called "Caramel Black Cavendish" as I found that to be the dominant note here and like others have said there is just a hint of vanilla. I was struck with the smell of it immediately upon opening my mailbox so it is quite powerful in that sense. I bought some to flavor up blends but find myself smoking it as is. Feels moist to the touch and some may consider it "wet" compared to a lot of other tobaccos but I noticed almost no difference in smoking quality, packed and lit fine. The smoke is plentiful and heavy but extremely smooth and buttery with zero bite. Excellent sweet caramel flavor, has a dessert quality to it and as such is very enjoyable after a meal but I'm sure is excellent any time.

Over the years I have tried all of the bulk VBC's that are offered, but I always come back to Lane's, it is my all day smoke. It has no bite, and the flavor is the same from the top to the bottom of the bowl, always burns to a white ash at the bottom. I usually buy it five pounds at a time and the blend is always the same from bag to bag. My wife and friends like the room note. I like to use it in my Big Ben Churchwarden Pipe. It has a large bowl and it lasts about 45 minutes a load. I am retired so this works for me, I have lots of time to puff on my pipe and remember the good old days. Writing a review for pipe tobacco is like trying to pick out a wife for someone, it seldom works well, hope this helps someone who is looking for a good vanilla tobacco.

Tastes great and smells great !

Started smoking this about a year ago. Burns slow and is very mild to the pallet. The aroma is great and not overwhelming.

This is a tasty tobacco--good when smoked by itself or mixed with others.

This pipe tobacco is one of the more smooth, sweet tasting smoke I have ever tried. My wife even enjoys the sweet aroma. My father tried it, and it became his favorite.

If you are a fan of a Cavendish style and want to be able to taste sweet the flavor, this is the greatest example you can find. IMO this is the best Black Cavendish out there. Buy it when you can find it. Buy more when it is on sale lol

Lane Limited has another great tobacco with their Vanilla Black Cavendish. I have been a smoker of Lane's Black Raspberry a Lane Dark Red but I ordered a pound of their Vanilla Black Cavendish and I am enjoying immensely. It is very mild with a great flavor and my likes the aroma. I definitely recommend it to anyone that is looking for an all day mild smoke. I'm glad that I tried it and I will definitely continue ordering it.

I found this vanilla black cavendish to be another excellent offering from the Lane Ltd lineup of fine aros. Starting with the pouch note, ir immediately grabs your nose. If you don’t like vanilla, best pass it by, cause it’s definitely a silky, smooth, vanilla. Don’t know a lot about room note, I smoke outdoors, but the bowl note is also the flavor that comes through. Sounds strange, but how many times have you smelled a dynamite tin or pouch note that didn’t translate into flavor? Lights well & stays lit very well with a minimum of re-lights, if any. Burns even & cool in my Savinelli Ghiglia (606KS) briar. Very minimal vitamin N. Great stand-alone tobacco; no bite at all, never harsh, & plays well with others. I added some to a cherry blend that had a bite like a junkyard dog; toned it right on down using 1/3 cavendish, 2/3 biting blend. My favorite is 1/3 cavendish to 2/3 Cult Blood Red Moon. Try this tobacco & you may find a new member for your cherished rotation.

After trying many vanilla aromatics I fined myself consistently returning to Lane Vanilla Black Cavendish. A great all day smoke for me. Lights easily doesn't burn to hot and tastes a lot like it smells. Defiantly would recommend to any airo smoker looking for a better vanilla flavor in there tobacco.

This is a very nice mellow smooooth tob,,burns well and slowly.I havent got any tongue bite yet and at times i probably puff a lil too fast.The aroma is not over powering,,I have got got any complaints from anyone yet.This is nice blend for mixing in with 1 of your other favs in your rotation.I smoke this in a large bent billiard with a very large bowl and i havent got any GOOP yet or goopy build up.I will order more soon,,GOOD STUFF and GOOD service.

The smell was so strong and bad that my wife made me put it in the garage. so wet and sticky you could make a ball with it that stuck to your hand!! May have been a bad batch, but I'll not buy more. I like BCA a lot more than this.

One of my new favorite pipe tobaccos. It also blends well with other flavors too. Will try to keep on hand. Most of my favorite pipe tobaccos come from Lane Limited! I also like the Captin Black Gold wich is from Lane Limited as well.

Lanes is OK, but not quite Captain Black.

I'm a NooB but this tobacco was pretty smooth. Not much bite, stays lit pretty easy. I will be buying again.

Great tobacco, Smoked out of my Country Gentleman Corn Cob Pipe. Lane Vanilla Cavendish is smooth with no bite and Excellent room note. Great price cant beat it.

I was surprised to find the tobacco smelled like butter based vanilla icing. I've only smoke one bowl so far. It was a smal bowl, the Barccini churchwarden, and had no bite at all, even though I smoked it a bit fast (as evidenced by the hot bowl). It think the room note will be pleasant, but since I only smoke outside on the porch, I can't swear to it, since the breeze isn't cooperating today.

Lane Vanilla Black Cavendish.....the name pretty much says it all. Just when I get a favorite this happens. This blend is an absolute pleasure to smoke, it is so flavorful, mellow, easy on the tongue, and a room note (actually a pickup truck cab note) that is awesome. This blend in a MM CC is top shelf. I have so many blends in jars, mostly Lane products that it is difficult for me to choose what to smoke next but this blend and its' cousin Dark Red are already up front with BCA and RLP-6 right behind. I am going to start mixing some of these blends to see what I can come up with. Keep up the good work Lane and P&C's. You have just begun to hear from me.

This blend burns slow and cool. The room fragrance is pleasing. An overall great blend for enjoying anytime!

This product showed up very moist. Leaving it out to dry for a while before consuming is a good idea. The flavor is absolutely delicious! A touch of fruit that resembles fig or prunes is subtly paired with the vanilla. A great room note, a nice warm earthy tone. Very good product, will purchase again!

As a loyal BCA smoker I thought I would try Lane Vanilla, It's good, but the BCA has a better more pronounced flavor

An all day smoke, smooth and creamy without a bite. A light aromatic with a pleasant room note and slightly sweet vanilla taste.

This is a great blend, I found it very cool burning and taste like the aroma it has.

My first order was for 5 Lane's and 4 Sutliff's, and so far, LL-BCA and LL-Vanilla Black Cavendish are my favorites. If you like BCA, and vanilla, you will like LL-Vanilla Black Cavendish. To my tastes, it's like vanilla flavored BCA. Very smooth, no bite, burns well.....nothing to complain about and lots to love. My only complaint is that I only ordered 2oz to try, and now they are out of stock. Will get a lb. next time. It's that good.

pure garbage,full of aroma flavors,nothing else,no nicotine at all,it just smokes and burns good.

I purchase and repurchased many Lane products but this is not for me. I was expecting more sweet vanilla and got more of a hint of vanilla and a strange room note. Maybe just a bad batch?

Surprised! I smoke mainly Lane tobaccos and decided to try a few ounces of this. I have smoked 4 bowls in different size pipes. Mild, no bite. Smokes slow. People around me like the aroma. When I reorder, I will get a pound.

I found this blend to be smooth and pleasant for all around.

Great taste, but don't retamp more than once. Unlike reviews where I read that it smokes cool and then I try it and it burns my tongue off this tobacco really does smoke cooler than others as long as you don't try and overdue the retamping.

Mellow and sweet, this Lane Nilla Black cav is superior to all the other vanillas I've tried. Highly recommended!

I lived this from the first puff to the end if the bowl. Mild with just a hint of vanilla. I shared dime with a friend and he loved it, too.

Nice vanilla flavor. Burns cool. Nothing special, but a nice smoke all in all.
