Lane White Burley

Lane Limited is well-known for their popular Burley blends, including BLWB, Sir Walter Raleigh, Half and Half, Velvet, Granger and more. They select the finest grades of Burley to make these iconic blends, and now you can use the base tobacco they use in many of these iconic brands to enjoy by itself without any top flavor. The naturally mellow, nutty flavor and cool-burning characteristics make Lane Limited's White Burley a great addition to any blend that burns too hot or is too heavy in flavor.

I use it as part
I use it as part of my own blend, so I cannot really provide detailed assessment of the individual product.

It's a great tobacco. I smoke it in a pipe sometimes, but mostly I use it to roll cigarettes.

Good deal
This tobacco is dry in the pipe and cool smoking, it is a little fast burning but great for the price.

An excellent choice if you need a white burley for blending. A small amount goes a long way in a blend. Lane quality. Recommend.

Used to “mix down “.
This is my first experience with this product. After having read previous reviews, thought I’d try to mix with my regular blend. It is slightly dry. However, after mixing with a slightly moist blend, it was near perfect. Also, even though I use an aromatic with a low to medium “room note”, I wanted to lessen that aroma. It works! Can’t recommend as a stand-alone smoke, but I really like it as mix ingredient. Try it. You might like it.

White burley
I was not impressed. It burned hot and fast, possibly because it was crunchy dry when I got it. I mean crisp. I may try to hydrate it with some apple slices but for now i’m Sticking with 1Q.

The service and the products couldn't be better. Been dealing with P&C for a few years since my favorite tobacco shops in NYC and Boston have gone. I mention that because before retiring I lived in NYC and Boston. They have the best range of tobacco products at reasonable prices and offer fast shipping. Highly recommended.

Mixing it up
I needed a good nutty addition to a mix I started but wasn't satisfied with. This burley did the trick. I have always been more than satisfied with the products from Lane

Not what I have to expect from Lane
I was disappointed with this mixture. It was dry. I usually like my tobacco drier than most; but this one practically crackled when I loaded it into my pipe. It also burned very quickly. Not what I have to expect from Lane.

I was disappointed with this blend. I usually like Lane Tobaccos; but I found this mixture very dry--almost to the point of being crunchy when I loaded it into my pipes. It also burns fast--not like other Lane mixtures.

Lane Limited White Burley
I tried White Burley by it self and I enjoy it. Then I started to mix with it and found out it adds to the other tobacco's flavor.

Whew! A new experience in the world of tobacco.
I find myself drifting toward burley based blends and my home blends are usually half Prince Albert or BLWB so I was looking forward to something called "white" burley. White it's not, but that's not really a surprise. On opening my 4oz ziplock I could not detect any aroma AT ALL. so I asked my wife telling her I couldn't smell it. She said, "I can. Smells like sawdust." Anyway, I decided to give it a go thinking this must be the mildest burley ever. Well, it was so DRY it tented to crumble to dust when I took a pinch to start loading a medium cob. After careful loading and lighting I had to quick tamp to put out the flames. It seemed like it was going to burn right down to the bottom of the pipe without any help from me. I braved a couple of sips but couldn't take the heat. I knocked the pipe empty to avoid ruining the cob. I love Lane and even though they have some blends I don't care for I've never had one I absolutely could not smoke! I've never tried to rehydrate a tobacco this dry and don't know if it's possible. Seems like it would be like trying to rehydrate petrified wood. I'm thinking, put the 4oz's in a quart mason jar with two cups of water and put it away for a year or two and then try it again. Or, add a 1/4 oz to a pound of whatever I cannot keep lit and see if this stuff solves that problem. Maybe I'll just send it back to P&C. Their customer service has been outstanding over the years and I know they'll make it right. Maybe this whole thing was just a terrible mistake somewhere out there in that magnificent warehouse.

A smooth burly.
This was bought to blend with bright Virginia ribbon cut, and it produced a very good blend. Good stuff.
