Mac Baren Halberg Yellow

This is some awesome tobacco

smokes with a bit of a bite but the pleasure of the room note is worth the bite. Definitely not a morning blend but great after dinner with a port in hand

I have a pipe of this when working in my shop. Very good.

The raw tobacco has hints of fruit and vanilla. It has a mild taste and nice odor while smoking. It does NOT come in a tin, it comes in a vacuum packed bag stored in a swanky cardboard box, but don't let that dissuade you from trying it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tobacco. It has a delightful aroma and burns easily with no aftertaste.

This is an outstanding blend of tobacco. Clearly, the quality of the tobaccos used are top shelf. With the various colors of light and dark Virginia and the mixture of ribbon cut, rough cut and broken flake, this is as interesting from a visual standpoint as it is on the palate. The tin note has a very dominant black cherry essence, with other dark fruits and perhaps some black currant. This does not taste or smell artificial, however, as I believe most of this is coming naturally from the Virginias. The Vanilla, if there is any, is very mild and does not stand out as a flavor but helps to enhance and accentuate the natural flavors of the tobacco. When I first opened the pouch the aroma was very strong and I was worried that this would be an excessively sweet blend. After the first rush of aroma, things settle down and this becomes a truly awesome smoke, with plenty of dark fruity, natural tobacco flavor. This comes at a perfect moisture content and smokes cool and dry. With the bigger chunks of broken flake mixed with the ribbon, you need to pack your bowl carefully but it is not difficult. I am not primarily an aromatic smoker because they almost always hide the natural tobacco flavor and tend to be very goopy. This is definitely not the case with this or any of the other Mac Baren aromatics I've tried. If you shy away from Aromatics but like sweet tobacco blends on occasion, this is definitely one you should try.

What a shame this blend is being discontinued. Every tobacco has a taste of its brand. This is a classic Mac Baren aromatic. Smooth, complex, no aftertaste. I'd load up the boat NOW since it is going to disappear soon.

As with all the Mac Baren products I have recently purchased I am so impressed with the elegant packaging! The smoke it's self is quite different that what I am accustom to as well. Quite fruity and more tongue bite than I am used to. However it is nice for a change of pace. Something I would purchase again.

Not worth the price in my opinion, even when on sale. It is packaged very nicely, so I am going with 2 stars instead of 1.
