Man O' War (Original)

This is the one that started it all. Man O' War is simply a masterpiece. Created by AJ Fernandez, utilizing all the skills he learned in Cuba while working under Don Alejandro Robaina, who was largely responsible for the revitalization of the Cuban cigar industry, this Nicaraguan beauty enrobed by an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper is amazingly complex.

The wrappers are dark and satiny, with a gorgeous sheen, and the Nicaraguan filler blend  elevates this medium-full delight to match up with some of the best cigars anywhere.  You'll notice wood notes, deep espresso and cocoa on top, with spicy nuances that create layers of flavor unlike any other cigar.

The five shapes come in handsome cedar boxes of 22. Compare Man O' War to cigars twice their price, and the war is over.

This is the ONE
This IS the one that started it all for me. Not the 1st AJ Fernandez stick I ever tried, but the 1st one that convinced me of his uncanny powers, as a master blender. Rocky Patel Fusion, Padilla Habano, Morrow Castle & La Herencia Cubana Core were all cigars I adored, but had yet to piece together the fact that they are all examples of Abdel's superior skills. Along comes Man-O-War & I was one hooked fullhead! I began to explore all of his offerings from San Lotano, Diesel & Spectre to New World. Medium full & full bodied blending had met its match! No matter what I try or love, I always come back to Man-O-War & the whole family of MOW blends. AJ took an Ecuador Habano wrapper & draped it flawlessly over a core of Nicaraguan long fillers to produce the top medium/full bodied, full flavored puro in existence, IMHO. Notice the center of the foot of every stogie has a nearly black area that is stuffed with ligero leaves. I see this same trick used in many of his offerings. I call it AJ's power core. Soon after lighting, flavors of oak & earth coat the palate, while sweet spices, vanilla & coffee notes intermingle with cocoa & currants upon retrohale. It's simply addictive! I highly recommend MOW to almost anyone seeking a powerful cigar that is never cloying but always smooth as silk & as complex as any cigar I have smoked in recent memory. All this & a price point that could easily be doubled & it would still be a top seller. Many AJ blends seem to get overlooked by the major publications, when it comes to 90+ ratings. MOW is one good example. But I give it a heartfelt 93/100, which is about as high as I ever go. Shame on those cigar snobs who often think a high rating has to be linked to a high cost, because MOW is the epitome of the cigar making art, from its perfect construction & draw, to its classy logos & fancy boxes. Six years after leaving Cuba, Abdel Fernandez has reached the pinnacle of the cigar making art. I can hardly wait to see where his genius takes us
