This is a match to the old Flying Dutchman, made by Theodorus Niemeyer . Sweet, bright Virginias, mellow Burleys and a hint of soft black Cavendish are combined with a mellow, sweet top note that is smooth enough to enjoy anytime. MATCH - Flying Dutchman is one of the most popular match blends, for a very good reason.
Like many other pipe smokers, I had a love affair with Flying Dutchman back in the day, so I was looking forward to trying the Match version. Unfortunately, other than the quick and light smoke, there was nothing in this blend that reminded me of the good old stuff. The lack of the famous Flying Dutchman aroma was the biggest disappointment. The good old stuff used to linger on the moustache for hours!
I love this tobacco. Tastes great and burns well. I have ordered this twice now and will certainly order again.
I am really tired of the bad rep that FD has been getting. FD has been around for a LONG time and is still sought out so maybe you should reevaluate your opinion. FD is a very thin ribbon cut blend that packs easily, lights easily, and burns very easily. If you smoke it SLOWLY it will not only taste better but WILL NOT BURN YOU!. If it was really so bad then it would not still be around after 75 years! So try it again and this time SLOW DOWN from your hectic life, get away from your computer, put down the cell phone and enjoy a classic.
Not the Dutchman, but a good smoke. Mild,no bite, burns to a white ash.Although it didn t match, I think I'll try EMP and compare to the real EMP in my english rotation. GB
Flying Dutchman match this is NOT! Simply a mild aromatic Cavendish blend with about a 2 room-note.
I like this a lot and it not to strong.
