Holiday Mixture match
I've never had the original blend from Laurs or Lane, but if it is anything like the match I'm sad that I haven't tried it. I've read that the original blend started with Edgeworth Ready Rubbed. I am NOT crazy for Sutliffs Edgeworth match so that kind of worried after I read that Holiday match had that in there. I can tell you that this blend is actually good! It has a nice flavor, a nice room note and a pretty noticeable nic-hit. It tastes old fashioned and smells the same way. It it best smoked in a wide bowl, like a bent bulldog or a prince shape. This has to be smoked normally. Take your time because if puffed fast and hard it will bite. Holiday Mixture is right up there with Bourbon Street and Revelation matches.

I smoke the original for
I smoke the original for about 8 yrs then I found cotton med all dunhill blend Iam 79 years old had a heart procedure,I was told not to smoke my pipe. I needed tobacco that wasn’t so heavy so I went back to holiday that’s when I found holiday match I like it better than the original so much so I could smoke more bowls , easily. I just couldn’t let my savinelli just die !😍

Trying to Remember
I'm trying to remember how the original of this blend smelled in the pouch and what it tasted like. After all I haven't smoked Holiday since probably the mid 1960's. I do remember the cut of the tobacco and that is was difficult for me to keep lit. That still holds true for the Match Holiday. The bag note of the Match blend had a slight hint of cocoa and the taste was slightly sweet. I found that if I rubbed it out just slightly I would have less trouble keeping it lit. I experienced no bite. All in all, a pleasant smoke. I may buy it again if I feel nostalgic.

A good, somewhat smoky tobacco
A good, somewhat smoky tobacco with no bite and nice room note. I like it, and will consider re-ordering a larger amount. This blend was recommended to me by an employee of Pipe's and Cigars.

I really like this blend.
I really like this blend. Although I used to smoke Holiday, your matched blend isn’t the same as I remember. I will say your blend is very flavorful with a great room note. I will be buying it again. Thank you.

Must Try
Pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting much from this tobacco. I never tried the original because the box wasn't appealing to me I suppose but it turned out to be a very good all day smoke. I have since ordered a couple more ounces. I've been revisiting several of these old "drug store" tobaccos and found them to be every bit as good as the high priced tobaccos. I am really enjoying them.

A very enjoyable blend.
My wife's grandfather used to smoke Holiday Mixture, so I ordered 8ozs of it to allow her to have some fond memories of him. It has a lot of cube cut burley, and smelled very pleasent upon opening the bag. It's fairly course cut and slightly moist, with a very slight fruity aroma, though I wouldn't call it an aromatic at all. It packed nicely and lit very easily (after the char). It burned cool and even, with no bite. The ash was soft and white/gray. There's a lot going on in this blend. It has a complex taste, that's enjoyable. The latakia component is that of a condiment, and I couldn't discern it in the taste. I enjoyed this blend, and will keep some on hand, it's a walk down memory lane for my wife.

Close copy , not as sweet
One of my favorite OTC blends when it was available, and while this may not be exactly the same , it is a close copy and brought me back to a simpler time .. vary nice !!!!!!!

Match Holiday
I like the various Revelation re-incarnations on the market. But my tongue is sensitive, and they're fairly strong. I'm glad I tried Holiday, because it also has several types of tobacco playing tug-of-war with each other, but it is a bit milder. Really keeps my interest, and is a nice all-day smoke.

Match Holiday Mixture
I smoked the original more than 50 years ago. I liked the taste, it burned cool and the aroma didn’t offend my co-workers. Saw the Match blend on the P&C web site and ordered a sample. I like the taste, it burns cool, and my fishing buddies like the aroma. Can’t really remember if this is close to the original but I like the Match blend. Price and service from P&C,as always, is excellent

A really nice smoke!
I really enjoyed this mixture. It smells just like it tastes, warm, fruity, and spicy. It's really a pretty good festive blend. The texture was nice, the moisture was pretty spot on, ready to smoke. I would recommend packing your bowl a little loose as the smaller pieces want to clog the air passage in your pipe. At some point, I will probably order it again.

Holiday pipe tobacco match
My grandfather smoked holiday pipe tobacco. The match I purchased was a close match, not as aromatic as I remember the original being but close. It brought back a lot of memories of my grandfather. Thanks

From time’s gone by...
A different approach: back in the 50’s, when I was not quite a teenager, this was my dads favorite smoke. He had the latest Falcon aluminum pipe with an average size briar bowl and bought the tobacco at our local Rexall drugstore. None of this looked or smelled like his dads Prince Albert and Yello bowl...grandads kid being different I guess. I was about 10 years old and it was likely about 1955. Cut to 2018 and me, a 72 year old son and grandson recently restarted my smoking with pipes from my 50 year collection. For my test, I had to restore an old Falcon pipe...not so difficult and since the Match blend was all that was available, I bought a two ounce bag and got with it. I like my English Briars and Lane 1Q, so this was a big change. The Falcon pipe is not so bad, does what it’s supposed to do and dissipates heat like crazy. The Match has a nice fruity, sweet aroma in the bag and is a riot of different colors and textures. It loads and packs easily (don’t pack it tightly), is a little tough to start (BIC instead of Ohio Blue Tips out of a Marble Match safe) but once lit, it stays lit and is a very mild aromatic with a subtle sweet taste. Doesn’t produce large volumes of smoke but has a very pleasant room note. It burns pretty cool too. There was little moisture in the bottom of the pipe when smoked all the way to the bottom. Unlike me predecessors, I can’t tamp with my thumb. I’ll stay with my crazy experiment until the 2 ounces is gone and I have time to rethink the entire trial but so far it’s not bad and provides a close up view of times gone by. Best I can tell, it doesn’t bite if you don’t force it. Might work best on a fishing trip or long drive...both scheduled soon. Would suggest a large bowl of large chamber diameter...fatherly attitude can’t but help. I think the blend is good and deserves a try.

Subtle, some complexity, ENJOYABLE!
It was a bit underwhelming at first. But as a newb, I wasn't sure what to expect and thought I might be getting a very Christmassy smoke. But after reading a couple of reviews that helped me understand what the flavours should be - a little nutty, some vanilla, a bit of sweet fruit and a hint of smoke - I recognized the subtle interplay of these and began to enjoy this for what it is.

Chock full of nuts
Love this blend! Lot going on in this blend. Upon lighting, my girlfriend thought I was roasting macadamia nuts! Very nice room note and satisfying taste, nutty sweet and Smokey spice.

The taste of hints of pine tree (Balsam)
At first I was not sure what I thought of this mixture. I gave it a try and it's ok. The taste of hints of pine tree (Balsam) I found pleasant.. I rated this with 4 star because I might try it again. I would however not say this is my favorite. I still have many more pipe tobaccos to try but one other I really did like was Christmas Spice.

Not spicy enough
I compared this Holiday match to the Lane version with a friend. We both noticed that the Lane version is much more aromatic, much more of a spicy smell, both in the can and being smoked. Bottom line, it's eh ok. I wish I had the original Larus & Brother to compare the Match to. The Match may be closer to the Larus. I don't know which (Lane or Larus) was the benchmark.
