Smooth but complex
An old-fashioned smoker's tobacco and a good match

Good, but not perfect. However it is quite worth it
The original aromatics are amazing, light chocolate and cherry to me, but it isn't overpowered by them. The smoke is smooth, perfect for afternoon or even morning. The finish is a little dry, reminiscent of a Honduran cigar I once had, but somewhat out of place when combined with the rest of the experience. This is only really brought out with quick repeat smoking...like when I am drinking beer!!! Overall I keep filling my pouch with it for daytime. Nighttime I have been reserving for the sutliff vanilla custard, excellent in tandem to Rolfe blend.

This is surprisingly good!
I tried the Flying Dutchman match, and that was nice, but was curious about some of the other blends, searching for a nice, all-around aromatic. I saw the reviews for John Rolfe, and thought I'd give it a try. Well, this turned out to be a BIG surprise. This is one of the nicest aromatics I've ever smoked. A nice, robust, full-flavored tobacco with an outstanding aroma, and it burned down to fine ash in the bowl. I think I just found a new, every-day smoke that I'll be enjoying into the future. I bought 4oz to try, and wish I had bought a pound. If you like aromatics, but aren't big on flavored tobaccos, this is one you should definitely try. Highly recommended.

Good Stuff
I never smoked the original blend but decided to grab a couple of ounces of this to try out. Wasn't sure what to make of it at first but after a few bowls I began to learn the tobacco and was able to unlock it. It is a dry affair and not goopy at all. Topping is distinct and agreeable to my palate and seemed to last till the bottom. I can imagine the taste as peach brandy, although it morphed into a distinct sweetness beyond those flavors and merged well with the tobacco, The burley peeks thru in the background and evens out the profile. The Virginia is noticeable but more in the texture and burning qualities keeping the smoke crisp. It can burn a bit hot but not overly so. No lighting issues with my batch. Found myself reaching for this often. Tried in cobs, meerschaum, and briar and gave a consistent and satisfying smoke with each. Some slight nicotine near the bottom but overall mild. Pleasant smoke and a good change up for the fan of dry aromatics.

Very good.
I thought it was a very pleasant smoke but I wasnt a fan of the addition of peach brandy. I'm sure many people do like it, it's just not for me.

Faux John Rolfe Blend
Overall this is a very satisfying tobaccao. It is not the same cut or moisture level as I remember the original John Rolfe, but a very close match. If you were a fan of this blend in the old days you won't be disappointed.

Partly successful match
This blend is similar to John Rolfe, but not as aromatic.

Better than the real John Rolfe
First, I smoked the real John Rolfe in the late 1960s. It was a very different cut, cube and flake. It was very wet and the topping was super heavy. I liked it ok but it was hard to keep lit. So, I won't even try to compare this version of John Rolfe to the original. I love English but also love old time OTCs and have smoked them all. This blend is its own thing and I like it very much for what it is. Burns well and has a very pleasant taste and aroma. I will always have some of this on hand.

It was my favorite for years, until I could not find it anymore. Your Match Blend is most appreciated. Regards, Oiva
Customer Testimonials
Its new here, color match almost exact but faded with 45 years since I smoked the Orginal drug store packaged. Bought in the restored Willamsberg, VA. Tobacconist shop there. No judgement of room note or taste, for I am not qualified to do so. I like it almost like I remember it. This blend is so far the closest to the orginal that I have found. Some of newer blends have a stronger flavor but the orginal did not have. Flavors today taste like you have been sitting down and eating fruit and cream. very good. top nothch mix. AA
