Beacon is a broken flake made of a variety of brighter grades of sweet flue-cured Virginias which also incorporates the deep fruitiness and spice of slowly fermented Louisiana Perique. The result is a mature blend with sweetness and zest and a cultured flavor.
Up to McClelland's usual standards of excellence. Reminiscent of Red Cake, which for some reason I have been unable to get from P&G for months. Like other McCL flakes, it is cut thick and needs to be well rubbed out. Just the right amount of Perique with nicely matured Virginia, I'd rate this a 9/10 and give it 4 stars; 5/5 is for the impossible ultimate tobacco which exists only in the imagination!

Bought both versions, preferences vary with Perique but of the two the lighter is y choice for all day smoking. Both are top notch.

Fantastic Service Fantastic Pipe tobaccos!

As a novice pipe smoker I had no idea what I wanted and would enjoy. Trew trial and error I have found several tibaccos that are so good they defie words. Ive completly quit cigarettes. The relaxation and smothness of the tobacco is wonderful. The value is there too. Reasonable prices timely service and nice people you call and talk too if you have a problem.
