McClelland Blue Mountain (Balkan Blue)

Balkan Blue (formerly Blue Mountain) was created by McClelland for the 2011 Balkan Sobranie 759 Throwdown at the Chicagoland Pipe and Tobacciana Show, and it won the People's Choice Award.

This blend, based upon a 21 year-old sample of  759, uses rich Latakia, bright Orientals and superb Virginias to achieve a bold, yet smooth flavor that will take you back.

McClelland Blue Mountain and Black House Combo
Wow! I mixed Black House 50% and Blue Mountain 50% for a fantastic tasting English Blend. I have this mixture in a ceramic jar that has sat for about a year now. The aroma and taste is out of this world if you love English/Latakia Blends. Give this combo a try and you won't be disappointed.

Nice Evening Smoke
Nice rounded aroma. Smokes a little strong on the tongue, but like the flavors.

One of the Best
Spent the last year trying different Balkan blends when I read about McClelland Balkan Blue. Destined to be a classic. The taste is wonderful but nothing overbearing. Smooth with great aroma. Will always be keeping this on hand.

rises to the top of the pack
An impressive and deep blend. I let it breathe for a week or so in a mason jar to dry a bit, and it brought out a wonderful array of subtle flavors. This is really good. I usually smoke FM, 965-- IMHO (taste is so personal)-- this stands out as balanced, deep and complex smoke, yet not as overwhelming as 965. my new go to for the evening.

Great Smoke
I really enjoyed this one and will make it a permanent part of my rotation. Smooth and flavorful. A bit tough in the beginning to get it to stay lit, but after a few failures it says lit to the end. Like smoking velvet. Another huge hit from McClelland. I just wish it came in bulk, or at least a 3.5 oz tin.

My #1 tobacco of all time. The English of English. The Balk of Balkan. The smoke will take you aroud the world in one bowl. I love it. I cant say enouugh good things about this tobacco and I am a Dunhill fan. If you want a Latakia blend that will make you forget about the crappy day you just had then light this one up.

Smooth and Satisfying
This tobacco is smooth and satisfying. It has a luxurious feel to it like you're at the Parker Palace keepin it classy. But you don't need Parker cash to feel like you have a million bucks, just try some Balkan Blue and you'll be livin large!

McClelland Blue Mountain—Just what I was looking for.
After years of searching for my favorite tobacco, having found wonderful possibilities among the Frog Mortons and all the Seattle Pipe Club line, I seemed to have struck gold with this excellent English mix. It seems to be just about perfect to me, and I regret it only comes in small cans. For those of you who prefer English/Oriental mixes, this is well worth a try.

I suggest this in everyone's rotation.
Not enough O's in smooth to describe the flavor. The high dose of Latakia will keep you puffing on this trying to decifer all the underlying flavors. Woody, peppery, spicy are a few good descriptions. The room note is intriguing as well. The only issue I've had so far with this is keeping it lit. It may be the cut of the leaf. Otherwise a beautiful smoke. Strongly suggest with a nice peaty single malt Scotch. Cheers.

Worth trying if your a fan of Frog Morton like me.
definitely one to keep in rotation. Bite free and filled with great flavor though your tongue might have to search a bit to make out all the subtle nuances of this blend.

My opinion, it is like a slightly lighter variation of Frog Morton on the Bayou. Great baccy smoke some!
Customer Testimonials
Excellent. It is a bit more spicy, complex and rich than my favorite McCelland, Arcadia, but I know I will return to this blend frequently. A light/medium English with plenty of complexity, tang and spice. Highly recommended.
I bought this for my husband and a friend as a gift, they both loved it. Great flavor!
This is an Outstanding tobacco with a notable richness and subtlety that can be found in no other. Highly recommended.
