|Tobacco||Cavendish, Dark Fired Kentucky, Latakia, Turkish, Virginia|
|Room Note||2 - Mellow|
McConnell’s Scottish Blend fits the genre by combining rich red Virginias with Cavendish-processed Carolina, to which a helping of spicy Kentucky is added. The package is completed by fragrant Turkish leaf and just enough Latakia to add body without dominating the flavor.
While the P&C website speaks of "dark fired / spicy KY," the label on the can specifies Perique - along with Virginia, Latakia, and Turkish. I am a Perique devotee, and this blend is a nice start for those looking to move to a classic Balkan/Latakia blend with some added "interest." I recommend this blend as a solid, everyday smoke that you will not regret adding to your arsenal. (The fact that I'm Scots-Irish, and my mother's maiden name is McConnell has nothing to do with anything.....) Seriously, this is a solid smoke! Once you are ready to move up the Perique ladder, I recommend a nice helping of Frog Morton's "On the Bayou" - my current favorite smoke - along with H&H Black House.
