McConnell's Scottish Blend

McConnell’s Scottish Blend fits the genre by combining rich red Virginias with Cavendish-processed Carolina, to which a helping of spicy Kentucky is added. The package is completed by fragrant Turkish leaf and just enough Latakia to add body without dominating the flavor.

Endlessly complex
Unreal complexity. If you like 965 or nightcap try this. Medium to rich. Elegant like a perfume of hay smoke leather and bergamot.

Very Underrated Blend!
Okay, this blend isn't getting enough attention! I've been smoking pipe for over 35 years and over those years I've had the pleasure of having some of the highest rated and most sought after tobacco blends in my pipe and I'll have to say that McConnell's Scottish Blend is as good as any of them. This blend is VERY well balanced, very nice flavor and has a quite pleasant room note. The tin note tells you that there's Latakia in the blend but it doesn't overpower the rest of the components and there is ZERO tongue bite. There's a tiny spice from the Perique present and a subtle floral note from the Orientals but again they don't dominate, only enhance one another. I HIGHLY recommend that people give this blend a try, I think it's very underrated.

Customer Testimonials
While the P&C website speaks of "dark fired / spicy KY," the label on the can specifies Perique - along with Virginia, Latakia, and Turkish. I am a Perique devotee, and this blend is a nice start for those looking to move to a classic Balkan/Latakia blend with some added "interest." I recommend this blend as a solid, everyday smoke that you will not regret adding to your arsenal. (The fact that I'm Scots-Irish, and my mother's maiden name is McConnell has nothing to do with anything.....) Seriously, this is a solid smoke! Once you are ready to move up the Perique ladder, I recommend a nice helping of Frog Morton's "On the Bayou" - my current favorite smoke - along with H&H Black House.
