Missouri Meerschaum 150th Anniversary

They were the first and a century and a half later, they're still going strong. Of course, I'm talking about Missouri Meerschaum corn cob pipes. To celebrate, here's Missouri Meerschaum 150th Anniversary.  To begin with, this is the first crumble cake in their tobacco lineup, and it's nice and firm. Secondly, this is one of the first aromatic crumble cakes we've offered. Missouri Meerschaum 150th Anniversary is made of select Virginias and Burleys from around the world to which some mellow, Virginia-based black Cavendish is added. A subtle amount of smooth vanilla is added before pressing, but it's so slight that non-aromatic fans may enjoy it too. So grab your favorite cob, load up, light up, and puff away to celebrate Missouri's greatest contributions to our pastime.

smells and tastes great
nice flavor, pleasant smoke. minimal bite if any. my only complaint is that the tin took an exorcism, a tapestry of almost cuss words, 43.7 minutes, and a small screwdriver to open.

English Aromatic? Vanilla Caramel Crumble? Delicious.
I absolutely love this crumble flake. Amazing tin note, very pleasant room note, with good burn quality. It is a mildly sweet aromatic with hints of vanilla, and caramel flavors that will not burn your tongue or goop up your pipe.

Mixed Thoughts
Virginias are nice and not too hay-like, burley comes through, deep and slightly nutty, mild vanilla flavor in the back. Can get too hot and can also bite pretty quick if you dont watch it. Nothing bad but not particularly great at anything either.

Excellent Anniversary Tobacco
Lovely flavor, nice texture, reasonable price for a superior crumble cake pipe tobacco. Not over moist. Leaves a reasonably pleasant after taste.

Delightful Surprise
This is the first time that I tried a cake type of pipe tobacco. It was a very delightful Smoke. Easy to break apart and to pack into the corn cob pipe.

Doesn't disappoint!
I bring this one out when I am around non-smokers. The raves are amazing. "Smells wonderful." I get the joy of an awesome smoke with tasty tobacco and bystanders are delighted with the sweet aroma! This is a win-win. Even without the wonderful room note, I LOVE THIS TOBACCO! I need more tobaccos like this in my life.

Great cob-like smoke in a briar.
Terrific texture and flavor with steady burn and flavor retention near bottom of smoke. One of the best new tobacco discoveries I’ve made in 5 decades. Yet to smoke it in a cob pipe, though. It makes a briar pipe smoke like a cob.

A good, flavorful smoke
I'm not much into aromatics (I prefer vaper or English blends), but I am enjoying this tobacco. It has a singular, sweet flavor and a very nice room note. I like fiddling with cake tobaccos and this one packs well and burns without needing additional lights. I put MM 150th in my rotation to add something a little sweet for now and then and I will finish this tin before lone. I am a big supporter of the Missouri Meerschaum company and I primarily smoke cobs. I have been smoking this blend in a Missouri Meerschaum Mark Twain pipe... a good combination

Good All Day Long
I was skeptical at first about the crumble cake form, but it is easy to break up and get uniform ribbons. It's a mellow smoke with a great room note. When I first started smoking it, my wife wanted to know what I was baking because to her it smelled like raisins! It is now a staple in my line-up, Just wish the tins were bigger!

Intriguing....
I need to write this review while I smoke it out of my Meerschaum Churchwarden. Why? Because I can’t quite explain this blend that MM has created without actually describing it as a I go. It keeps you guessing. Sipping...Its delicious tobacco. Point blank. I can’t exactly describe why other than it’s high quality tobaccos pressed and aged with some flavor in there that I can’t quite put my finger on. Its background flavors are almost like freshly made Apricot jam. But not artificially. Imagine smoking the leaf littler of a heavily ripened Apricot ladened tree. Wait, now figs? There’s some stewed figs then Vanilla zest suddenly. Hay? A waft of hay just pranced through. The flavors just spiral as you smoke it and not once does anything taste like someone got heavy handed with a flavor. I would actually say there’s no artificial flavor in there but I know there is. My palate wants to identify it but can’t. As far as a blend, this is probably the most cohesive, well blended, naturally tasting aromatic I’ve ever tasted. But to say it’s an aromatic really doesn’t do it justice as it’s a beautiful pressed, thickly cut, sliced cake. Its so appealing in smell and texture, it reminds me of a fruit cake consistency or Irish soda bread. It’s mystery is it’s ability to be neither aromatic nor straight flake....but both and done masterfully well. The tobacco flavors are there. I detect the Virginias. It’s not pretending to be tobacco. It has an aged, deep fermented fruit aroma in the tin and taste that lingers in your nose pleasantly well after you have finished a bowl. I kind of crave it. It’s a dessert tobacco. But to say you can’t smoke this deep in Winter on a cold morning wouldn’t be true. I’m smoking it with coffee. Its hardy. It’s light. It just keeps changing. This blend is an intrigue and I just ordered another tin because it’s the most unique tobacco I have ever had. Well done, MM. You caught my attention on this one. This one should be part of your regular rotation and if any tobacco should make you famous, it should be this one. Thank you for this blend....

Not bad
This kake is very mellow, and true to it’s brand, it does compliment a big cob well. Smooth, sweet, a little nutty, the vanilla is very light and is more of an accent.

Excellent
It's like a cross between a fine cigar and an aromatic tobacco. The tin note comes through in the smoke taste, which is unusual for me. Something fruity? Something else? Can't quite put my finger on it, but it's good. It's stronger and harsher than Missouri Meerschaum Great Dane aromatic, but in a good way. I hope they keep making this one.

Unusual taste
Something interesting here that reminds me of growing up on the farm in the 60s. Must be the smoky flavor reminds me of walnut firewood in the garage potbelly stove.

Riches new. Tastes like vanilla, milk, honey and cinnamon. A real winner.
I'm glad I got this. It really reminds me of the Lane 125th Anniversary tin that I smoked. After that tin, I smoked 4 more ounces of the same in bulk. It was great. Now, I have this, Meerschaum's 150th Anniversary tin...it's better caked and fresh. The Lane was a concentrated almost liquory taste. Delicious. The Meerschaum is a milky, vanilla cinammon delicacy. It riches me new while the Lane riched age. Both are thought provoking tobaccos. Right now, I say the Meerschaum wins me over the Lane but i'll have to get another tin to figure it out...

Solid Blend
This is a solid blend in the sense that I'm not disappointed it found its way in my pipe, but it's not the one I'm reaching for time after time. The Virginias are quality and the vanilla top note is not overwhelming at all. I love the tin art and wish Missouri Meerchaum would sell stickers. If you buy it you won't regret it!

Wow!
First off.. FANTASTIC smoke! Well done Russ!! Nice crumble cake. Moisture was perfect. Very rich smoke. The smoke had good body to it, nic was mild. Topping was expertly applied. Was a VERY light touch as not to distract from the tobaccos. I kept thinking to myself..”What does this topping remind me of??” ... well if finally hit me. Years ago I smoked a pouch of Mac Baren Original Choice.....keep reading.....I’m getting a similar top note. If Mac B Original Choice is at 100%, MM 150th is at 10-15%, so an extremely light touch of that flavor, to me anyways. But the tobacco is much more robust. Burns cool. Certainly something I’d like to see made in bulk like Classic Burley Cake. Very pleased with my purchase and would like to keep this around. Even my wife doesn’t seem to mind this one being smoked indoors. She said ..“ooh! That one smells good”. Not sickly sweet but has nice room note and it doesn’t seem to leave that toasty/smoky smell for hours...Non-ARO and ARO smokers should like this. Perfect cross-over between the two.
