Missouri Meerschaum Cobbit Shire

The Missouri Meerschaum Cobbit Shire is a stocky acorn shape with nice, thick walls and a dark-stained finish. The extra-long, semi-churchwarden stem is made of black vulcanite for extra durability and comfort. The bottom of the bowl is finished with a hardwood plug for longer life. Kick back and relax with this great-smoking cob.

Wow! The craftsmanship on this
Wow! The craftsmanship on this pipe is much finer than the other MM pipes I own. Not like the country gentleman, the legend, not like any others. The stem is more of an acrylic than the softer plastic stems the others have. Even the bottom of the bowl is different, all in all one of my favorites.. a much higher quality cob pipe.

One of the best pipes I have ever smoked. Far superior to my more expensive Italian models. Light weight and stylish. Will purchase more.

Works well as a clencher
Works well as a clencher or to grip. Nice flavor and bowl size. Would maybe like a larger opening at the mouth, but would buy again.

Good smoking pipe. Sit out
Good smoking pipe. Sit out in the field and relax while puffing on a bowl of Old Toby. Every time I do, I’m glad I bought the Cobbit Shire.

Mo Meerschaum Cobbit Shire
I like the acorn shape. The length of this cob is perfect for the smoke to cool just a bit before reaching my mouth. Also if you have a beard it keeps the bowl away from the whiskers. It smokes really well.

Cobbit Shire - Cool easy smoke
Cool easy 30-40 min smoke. Good quality corncob pipe. I’m eight bowls into it, so still breaking it in but no complaints. I’ve smoked lite-aro, non-aro, smoother English blends in. No tongue bite, seldom need to relight unless I get busy doing something else and stop paying attention to my smoking. Really good pipe for a beginner and just feels right holding it. (Left the alcohol in it a bit to long and the stem swelled up faster than I was expecting. The bit wasn’t going back in no matter how long I let it dry out so I took a medal nail file and filed out the inside of the stem. Fits and smokes like a dream again.) Would recommend it to anyone and will probably buy another. -Jason

Looks good. Feels great in
Looks good. Feels great in the hand, and smokes very cool. The stem is different than the standard MM plastic. However for being twice the cost of the other MM cobs, you might expect the stem connection to the bowl to be better formed inside the bowl, but it is the same barely shaped hardwood as other MM.

Missouri Meerschaum makes great pipes
Missouri Meerschaum makes great pipes and the Cobbit is one of them. The cob doesn't get hot and it provides a nice smoke. It also looks really cool.

Cobbit Shire
Awesome pipe especially if you're a fan of LOTR. Smokes great and looks awesome. It's great for those hot burning tobaccos too. The long stem gives the smoke some time to cool off before it gets to your mouth.

Nice enough
I bought the Cobbit Shire and it is nice enough but nothing to get excited about. Heavier than I expected for a corn cob, varnished & an acrylic stem. Smokes fine, but I would not buy another.

This has become my daily smoke over all my other pipes. It smokes well, and feels good in the hand. It has simply been great in the car while im listening to The Lord of the Rings on audiobook during my countless hours driving.

The most stylish pipe I own, but not without its drawbacks.
I like this pipe quite a bit. It looks great, just gotta smoke it slow. And I mean really slow, this thing gets hot! Not great for goopy aromatics, but a bit of Prince Albert leaves it burning relatively cool. Also, it has a bit of a tight draw. It gets five stars for looks and theme though.

Welcome to the Shire
Another excellent pipe from MM. Looks great and feels great in my hand, my favorite pipe for smoking pipeweed.

Really nice
I know corn cobs don't have the snob appeal of the hundred dollar big name pipes out there but even the people with those pipes have to admit a corn cob gives you the sweetest smoke around and this one is no exception and it has great looks and feel in the hand. So don't be embarrassed get you one and sit back and have a great smoke.

Stem Is Not Vulcanite
Nice pipe but stem is not Vulcanite. It's a cheap heavy plastic stem that makes it uncomfortable to clench in your teeth.

Quality Corncob
From day one I have been enjoying this pipe. Upon arrival it was a bit larger than expected. The bowl has a very smooth and comfortable feel in my hand. The bowl, a perfect size. Adds that classic corn cob taste. A happy addition to the collection.

Perfect size bowl with long stem. Photos don't do it justice!

Great pipe
I love MM pipes and this one is no different smokes very cool, medium/large bowl, and looks awesome. The only complaint is that the stem was very tight in the shank. I was afraid I was going to break it trying to pull it out. A little work with a knife and sandpaper and it was perfect. Would recommend to anyone looking to get a cob churchwarden.

Quickly has become one of my favorites
Very aesthetic and charming pipe. I love the shape, the finish, and the way it fits in my hand. The first few smokes seemed to 'soak up' the flavor more so than my briars but after several bowls I'm getting a fuller flavor profile now. Smokes cool and dry; I see one reviewer is getting a lot of liquid but that hasn't been my experience. Might be a product variance. Anyway, filled my need for wanting a cob and a churchwarden, and this is actually light enough to clinch for a little bit. I like to take it on my walks and I picture it accompanying me on a lot of hiking and backpacking trips!

Good but Smokes Wet
I would say this pipe smokes okay! Only a couple complaints... My first pipe came completely bent between the shank and the stem but P&C shipped be a new one right away and it was straight and good to go. My only other complaint and maybe it is just me but no matter what I do it seems to always smoke wet, no matter the tobacco or the cadence at which I smoke it, it constantly builds up moisture and that is understandable but the hole in the stem is so small you hardly can get a pipe cleaner through it. Just and an annoyance but otherwise a good smoker if you don't mind the nasty liquid once in a while.

shire pipe
This pipe is totally awesome it smokes cool, an is a pleasure to smoke. I am a cross country bicyclist an I need to take a break some time off the road . Stopping by a river or stream or patch of woods an smoking a bowl or two with this pipe helps me relax and gets me ready for the next stretch if road.

MM Pipe without a Filter
My favorite pipes have always been churchwardens. However, I'll always enjoyed MM pipes as well. When I saw this, I figured that it would be the best of both worlds. It's shorter than my other churchwardens (they call it a semi-churchwarden), but I've seen churchwardens that length before, and it still gives the nice, cool churchwarden smoke. I like it a lot, and it smokes great (as expected from a MM pipe). However, they decided to make this unfiltered (for whatever reason). I have no particular loves for filters, but it loses a little something that MM pipes usually have. I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but it's just not what I would have expected from MM. If this was filtered, it would've been 5 stars. As it is, it's still a great pipe for the money.

Great Pipe for the Money!
This is an all around amazing pipe. As soon as it arrived, I fell in love with the shape and size of this cob. My only complaint was that the adhesive that held the stem in the bowl was weak and I found out the hard way trying to clean it. An easy fix but was a little disappointed. Might have just been the case with my Cobbit but I'd still recommend this pipe.

Such a great pipe for such a tiny price makes it hard to pay retail for a Briar. Might need to pick up another as a back up. Best pipe deal there is.

Awesome value!
I am not a seasoned pipe smoker, but I have some very, very nice pipes. I bought this Cobbit Shire to satisfy two goals: I wanted a churchwarden and a corn cob pipe as I had never had either. For the money, I would put this pipe against any. It is an awesome pipe that I would recommend this to anyone.

Not my absolute most favorite cob.
MoMeer does not make a bad cob. Occasionally a defective one but never a really bad one. This elevates to the level of 8 in my cob rotation. i.e. every eighth time I reach for a cob it'll be this one.

My first Churchwarden!
I bought this pipe more for it being an interesting addition to my collection. However, upon trying it out for a smoke, I found that I loved how it smoked. What a great pipe. Just may need to add a couple more Churchwardens to my collection.

Once more you've got it right
My latest buy was my usual Admiral's Choice tobacco plus two more Missouri Meerschaum cob pipes; the General and the billiard hobbit-like warden called the Hobbit Shire. Once more I've chosen wisely. I haven't lit up any of my pricier standbys or daily smokers since I received this package, they're so much fun to smoke. As I type, I am puffing on another cob pipe bought a few months earlier, and in my office, I use the two pipe stand I'd just purchased . . . and if it weren't for a temperamental cat and moody MAC, life would be grand!

Nice sized bowl that fits
Nice sized bowl that fits easily in the hand. The stem fit is a little iffy since the tenon is coned shaped instead of cylindrical. The mortise is large enough to fit a filter - I use cigarette filters (close in size to a normal 9mm, but shorter). Smokes well. Great value for the money.

A Bargain at Twice the Price
I've never had a bad Missouri Meerschaum and this one is no different. Great little pipe.

Good pipe
This pipe was an excellent purchase and smokes fantastically. I give it four stars however because when I opened it there was a small crack on the stem. Being a doityourself kind of guy it was a simple fix. So overall I was very pleased with it and return to it very often for a smoke.

Great Addition to the Cob Line
I have smoked plenty of briars and a few cherry wood pipes. I still come back to corn cobs. Their light weight and sweet smoke make them well worth a try. They are all I smoke now. The addition of these church warden style pipes makes them perfect. I smoke this one every day and it hasn't failed to please.

Fun smoke
very cool and dependable smoke. Not mention the most wallet-friendly nod to Mr. Tolkien.
Customer Testimonials
While these are great pipes I've always disliked the stems.. They are flimsy and bouncy and are just not tough enough in my humble opinion, especially when you have longer cob pipes like these new Cobbit's. If your going to purchase any of these cob pipes i would highly recomend that you seek out a replacement stem for them right away. Your best alternative is the "Forever" stems which will be made by Pat Morgan's new site http://oldlogcabinpipeworks.com/ You cant go wrong with them and i guarantee you will love them. I think there plan is to start making these stems with all their cob pipes but im not sure. And right now i think they are going to take special orders to start with. I bought a few forever stems from the previous maker (Walker Briar Works) for my own cob pipes and its like a whole new MM pipe now. Mr Wolf is an awsome craftsman when he made these forever stems and now his stems can be have passed onto Pat Morgan and the Missouri Meerschaum company.
