Missouri Meerschaum Great Dane

The Great Dane pipes are larger than most cobs, and come in two shapes- one that looks like a spool of thread, and one reminiscent of a Danish egg shape. They come with a stylish black stem, and each shape is available in bent or straight.

Gets Strangely Hot
OK pipe but gets hotter than my other corncobs, strangely. It's non-filtered and I prefer the filtered as it smokes cooler. Good for variation if you want it, but prefer my other filtered corncobs.

Great Dane Stright
Pleased beyond all expectations. Smokes as good as my brier pipes.

great dane spindle
smokes great, like all MM cobs. as a side note, if you order a replacement stem for the spindle, make sure it specifies that its for the spindle, otherwise it won't fit.

Really like this little guy.
Nice pipe that is big enough to enjoy your favorite blend for a good thirty to forty five minutes. This model has a thicker bowl and tends to smoke a bit cooler. Can't beat a cobby for a nice simple smoke.

It's alright
It is an alright addition to my rotation. It seems like the bit should be a bit stouter than it is, though. Still, smokes fine, cool, typical plesent mm smoke. Not my favorite mm, bmbut it's still cheap and smokable.

Great corn cob pipes. Love em!

Another wonderful cob!!!
I recently added two new cobs to my collection. The egg shaped cobbit and a Great Dane Spindle. These pipes smoke just as well some of my higher quality briars! They are an inexpensive way to boost your collection, and perfect for trying new tobaccos. Cobs are a must have!

My First Cob
I have smoked out of this pipe only once so far and it isn't my first choice in my rotation. You can't hate the price, the look of the pipe is not as distinguished as my briar's but it does the job well and is super easy to clean. I don't expect to hand this pipe down to my kids ever but I imagine this pipe will do the trick for a little while.

M M Great Dane
Great pipe, smokes cool, I'll have to wait and see how long it lasts, but at the price, it really doesn't have to last too long to be a good value.

not as good as mark twain
Like the bowl but the stem was terrible,if was so small in pipie and plastic stem lcould not use filter at all and then had to throw away.waist of time on this pipe.

Change in sizing sucks
What made this pipe cool was the girthy size now that it is slimmer the look is not the same. Sure it will smoke the same but it has lost part of its coolness factor.

Still a good pipe
I didn't realize that the spool is filtered and the spindle is unfiltered. That said, the pipe smokes wonderfully despite the overly light draw, and I have the option to throw in a filter if I choose.

Great little pipe
Another excellent pipe from Missouri Meerschaum. Smokes cool and the spool shape fits well in the hand. Another feature that I like is that they have improved how the stem fits into the bowl. In my Cobbit Dwarf the shaft sticks out above the bottom of the bowl, leaving space on either side for tobacco or carbon to build up, however in this model the shaft is drilled in the base of the bowl, leaving it flush with the bottom, making it much easier to clean.

Corncob pipes are a great conduit for tobacco
I have enjoyed tobacco smoking with corncob pipes for decades. Missouri Meerschaum knows corncob pipes. The Great Dane Spindle Bent is a fine example of modest smoking enjoyment. That said the stem and bit could use an update with the more durable and wear resistant vulcanite

You don't get a good pull on it. If you under or overpack it, same thing.

Meerschaum Corn Cob Pipe
I have been wanting to try one of these pipes for a long time. I grew up on a farm in Illinois and we used to make our own pipes from the cobs that the combine would throw out. I really enjoy the feel of the pipe as it fits naturally in my hand. The tobacco stay lit and never gets bitter during the whole smoke time. The bowl is big and allows me to enjoy a nice long smoke with my beverage of choice while I sit on my back deck in the afternoon sun and forget about the chaos of the day. I would highly recommend this pipe to any one who has ever though about trying a meerschaum corn cob pipe. Thank you goes to Pipes & Cigars for making these available at a price that would not turn the curious away from trying it.

Missouri Meerschaum Never Fails!
I have several MM cobs in my rotation and treated right they will last much longer then some might expect. I wanted a nice average sized bowl, to dedicate to Cater Hall. I do not regret this purchase one bit, and recommend the Dane as well as any of MM's fine line of quality cobs.

Great pipe
Beats my briar pipes everyday and twice on Sunday! Cool and smooth. Every man should have at least one if these puppies.

MM Great Dane
eximplifies the normal satisfaction I experience with Missouri Meerschaum. I love burley and cobs. I prefer cobs because of their smoking properties and I feel they lend themselves to a great burley smoke. I am also happy with the replacement stems I bought previously when I had a MM General because they fit this pipe.stems. I purchased this pipe because I needed something small to medium size to take a quick smoke at work. This pipe fits the bill whenever I want a 10 minute smoke. Normally I prefer larger bowls like the MM Freehand. However, this pipe serves a great purpose and fits the bill for the purposes for which I purchased it.

No Filter
Finally, no filter. Woo! Mouthpiece was a little janky. But smoking is nice and otherwise very happy.

Poor quality, poor design. Heavy. Not a fan.

A Fine Smoker!
After much deliberation, I chose this pipe to be my dedicated smoker for Frog Morton's Cellar Pipe Tobacco, and after substituting the cheap plastic filtered tip with a fine custom made unfiltered 3.5" curved vulcanite stem from Old Log Cabin Pipe Works (which I've done previously also with my MM Diplomat) I once again had a first class corn cob pipe to be proud of! This thing has a nice wide and surprisingly deep bowl, it sits upright, and has a factory stamped (not stickered) plug in the bottom. I couldn't be happier once again with this very attractive and functional little piece of joy!

Cool and Dry
I cannot express the amount of shock that I experienced after smoking this pipe. Of all the briars and meerschaums that I own, my cob is the easiest smoking pipe that I own! The only drawback that I experienced was that the depth of tobacco chamber bore was much deeper than the air hole in the shank. However, this was easily fixed with a little pipe mud. All in all... I will be adding a few more cobs to my collection! I highly recommend a cob pipe for any beginner. It's easy nature of providing a wonderfully dry smoke was incredible. I did my best to make my cob smoke wet, but alas, no moisture! I experienced a wonderfully sweet taste that was not at all unpleasant. It adds another level of complexity to my non-aromatics. Go ahead... Pull the trigger, you know you want to!!!

Smokes better than most briars IMO
I love MM Cobs and this one is quickly becoming my favorite. The smooth, flowing curve of the bit is more comfortable to me that MM's other bent bits. Spool style bowl feels nice in the hand. As with most of my MM cobs, it smokes better than 80% of my briars. It's pipes like this that make me realize that my briars are mostly vanity items that are generally not in my collection for their smoking qualities. Briars are pieces of art that really appeal to my eyes, but MM cobs like this Great Dane generally provide me with a better and more consistent smoking experience. IMO, if you are a starting pipe smoker on a budget, get yourself one vanity briar for smoking when out with others and buy a bunch of good MM cobs (the ones with the wood insert in the bottom of the bowl) for home where you'll be doing most of your smoking. Use the money you save by buying mostly cobs to explore more tobacco blends.

Missouri Meerschaum
has a pipe for all occasions with lots of styles to choose from. They are all reasonably priced and produce a great smoke. I have some expensive pipes but for a quick smoke I love the corn cob pipe.

Just what you'd expect
A great cob. Nice in the hand and fine for clenching. A good pipe for smoking while doing work around the house. Would love if the bit felt a tad fancier, but at the price point, who can complain? Nice thick walls offer a cool dry smoke. Will be buying more and in a variety of shapes as this is my new daily smoker.

The Great Dane is a smooth smoking pipe. It and all my Missouri Meerschaum's are truly worth the investment.

What a pipe! I recently decided to try a corn cob pipe for smoking Prince Albert as I had read many reviews stating that it was better in a cob as were most burleys. How right they were! I read one review that said this pipe almost smokes itself. That isn't far from the truth. It adds another whole dimension to Prince Albert which I found to be superb already. My only complaint is that this pipe has a fairly small bowl. How ever, it is great for quick smokes or medium length ones. It smokes great! I now have a great appreciation for cobs. Especially Missouri Meerschaums.

COBS RULE!
90 % of my pipes are cobs. I sold off 90% of my briars after a friend gave me a mersham and I never looked back. They smoke wonderful . Always able to finish right to an ash in the bottom, if you love real tobacco flavor, cobs are the only way to go.Mark down in fl.

Customer Testimonials
This is a fantastic pipe. No gurgle, good draw and smokes like a champ. I removed the filters out of mine. Great for beginners or just to add to the rotation.
Great pipe, bigger than expected. Is in my rotation with my briars.
This pipe is amazing. The bowl could be a little bigger but it's still fine. I bought this with a General MacArthur and two of the small Easton's. I wish I had bought these pipes first, they are much better than my considerably more expensive briar. Do yourself a favor and get a couple.
I love this Great Dane spool pipe! It blew the doors off my briar pipe that cost 15 times more! Needless to say I am a corn cob pipe fan for life. You have to try one of these!
I really love Corncob pipes and this is my go-to pipe.
Bought one of these Great Dane pipes and it’s a good pipe, for the price it’s a fantastic pipe. Got the Spool model and like the way it fits my hand, like it so much I order a second one. Smokes well and it’s been my experience that the Missouri Meerschaum's Cobs are some of the best smoking pipes at any price. If you don’t have one, you have to give them a try!
