The Molina Pipe of the Year 2017 is their second entry, and their choice for this year is a wonderful fusion of the old and the new. The shape is a traditional billiard, slightly under 6”, but with thick walls to make it comfortable to handle, and it comes in three smooth and two different sandblasted finishes. But where these pipes take a hard left turn is that the gleaming black acrylic stem steps down in diameter from the shank to make it a bit less unwieldy. The stem will accept a European-style 9mm charcoal filter. The end of the shank is capped with a brightly-polished metal ring, and a coordinating ring appears a little way up the stem for a singular look. Most special edition pipes like this tend to be quite pricey, but these are pretty reasonable. Each pipe is numbered, with only 480 of each finish being made. Get yourself a collectable pipe without the big ticket price with the Molina Pipe of the Year 2017.
