I know what you're thinking - "Not another bourbon-infused cigar." Nope, it isn't, but this cigar has a neat backstory.
Back in 2010, Jonathan Drew invited master cigar blender Willy Herrera to come down to Nicaragua and turned him loose on their stash of fine leaf. In two days, Willy cranked out an huge assortment of blends. Drew was so impressed that he hired Willy to be Drew Estate's master blender.
Fast forward some years, and Drew Estate welcomed another visitor - Julian Van Winkle, of the family that produced the famed and rare Pappy Van Winkle bourbon. He wanted to find a cigar that would perfectly pair with the hard-to-find whiskey, so he was offered a number of different blends to choose from, and he ultimately selected one of the blends that Willy Herrera had made during his 2010 visit. These cigars feature a select Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper which enrobes an Indonesian binder and a collection of superb Nicaraguan and Dominican long-fillers. It has a medium to full body, is exceptionally complex and well balanced, with just the right amount of spice to work beautifully with a bourbon like its namesake. Quantities are limited, so get them when you see them.
