Peter Stokkebye 27 Pistachio

Peter Stokkebye No. 27 Pistachio consists of a fine ribbon-cut, superlative red Virginia, and a silky-smooth black Cavendish. A carefully selected combination of a creamy vanilla with the subtle flavor of pistachio nuts completes this understated, but very enjoyable blend. For a nice, subtle aromatic experience, Pistachio is a great choice.

Pistachio, who'd have thought? Apparently Peter.
Wow, it really does smell like Pistachio. I thought it was a gimmick but it's legit. I really enjoyed smoking it.

Not as strong a Pistachio
Not as strong a Pistachio flavor as I like but still not bad over all.

An ok smoke.
Not bad, but not good. Low nicotine, good smell in the bag and in the jar. Just not for me.

A solid offering
Aromatics, especially Danish style aros, are the pinnacle of tobacco processing. My Native American ancestors, who introduced tobacco to the rest of the world, would often flavor their tobacco with bits of fruit. The industrial revolution and our current advanced scientific understanding of the chemical composition of flavorants, has brought the art of tobacco processing to near perfection. The majority of any item's flavor comes from smell, which is why these are rightfully called "aromatics." Aromatics are simply superior in every way to non-aromatic tobacco. That said, this tobacco is mostly red Virginia, a woody, deep tobacco which, about halfway through the bowl, is catalyzed and finally induced by the heat to release its natural sweetness. This in turn brings out the very lightly applied vanilla topping that until now was non-existent. The pistachio imparts a nuttiness similar to Burley throughout the bowl, but there is a dearth of true pistachio flavor; either the chemical composition of the flavorant is off, or it is improperly applied in proportion to the tobacco. Regardless, those who enjoy Virginia will be somewhat pleased by this tobacco. Those who claim there is "no tobacco taste," betray themselves as pretentious so-called connoisseurs, because the flavor is primarily that of Virginia tobacco. It's just not fermented (i.e., flavorized) as much as it might be for addition to a non-aromatic blend. The Cavendish provides some cooling and sweetness, as well. As far as a pistachio flavored tobacco goes, this is good, but doesn't match the beauty of Ålsbo Gold, the best (well, until now, the only) pistachio tobacco that I've smoked.

Worth a try
Pretty nice. Not too distinct, but has a pronounced nuttiness that is quite pleasant. Very smooth.

Tasty Sipper
There is good flavor in this tobacco if you sip it. It's slightly sweet and nutty; very mild. It's nice to use to spruce up blends you might not be so impressed with.

worth a shot for aro lovers
I don't hate aros but unless it is a really great one I find them too boring. Tried this because it is unique. If you like aros you should try it too. Its cheap after all. Aroma is great. But like many aros, doesn't taste like much to me. I'll smoke it more and see if I understand it better but probably won't get it again. Also, be careful packing, it compresses easily and messes up your draw

Excellent smoke. Nutty with a nice salty flavor. Very close to eating pistachios.

True to its name!
Surprising good smoke! Very much tastes like roasted pistachio to me and even though I lean toward Flake tobacco, I can see this as a great everyday smoke. Not too strong and, the flavors are subtle enough to be pleasant without over-doing it. I will certainly order more and cellar it to see how much better this gets.

There must be something better.....
I'm searching for the perfect tobacco. It has to be really easy on my tongue (as I smoke 20+ big bowls daily) and have a pleasant aroma to those around me. Even after ordering 2 lbs of this Pistachio and liking it a bunch, I'm still searching....and enjoying all the stops along my personal Route 66.

Better than expected . . .
I found this blend to be much smoother and more flavorful than I expected. Somewhat 'creamy' and definitely full Virginia. Nice aromatic that I will continue to smoke when I get a 'sweet tooth'.

Not your normal aromatic
Got this to use as a break from the aromatics I usually smoke. It has a sweet nutty flavor that is smooth and not heavy. With the right aromatic this could be a good blender to change the flavor of a blend that may be too sweet or you've gotten a little tired of.
