This is my go to
This is my go to standard smoke. It always packs well and gives good flavor. I've gotten many a compliment on the aroma as well.

301 Natural
This is now one of my very favorites. Very smooth, long burning with no bite at all. Great all day smoke.

Nice Smoke, and Great Service
PS 301 – It’s not Amphora, nor Sail. At least how my old memory serves me, but it is a very nice Dutch Cavendish! It has been many years! In the 70’s and 80’s the big two were my favorite everyday smokes, and then Bengal Slices was discovered and English/Balkan mixtures ruled my life for the next 30 years. One day a friend and I were reminiscing over the tobaccos of old, and I got a real strong hankering for some Dutch Cavendish. So, a little over a year ago I had ordered a four ounce sample of 301, and I didn’t really care for it. I felt letdown. So, I put the sample to the side, and forgot about it. I was going through my “cellar” collection, and stumbled across the sample. I decided to try it again. Wow! What a difference! The tin note is still the same – that nice hay aroma, but the taste is richer and smoother. From the initial light, to about halfway through the bowl the taste has that delightful “hay” flavor, and the remaining develops that nice creamy taste. As for the room note, my wife doesn’t like it, and I don’t really care. Since then I have ordered a pound, and now I even enjoy the less aged product. The cut is finer then the tobaccos of old and the moisture content higher than I prefer, but that is easy to alleviate. Better too moist, than too dry! This is my everyday smoke now, and will be ordering regularly. You just can’t beat the price, or the service, either!!!

Good Blender
Medium Virginia that is a good blending tobacco. Try with white burley, perique, Turkish leaf, and/or latakia..

PS 301 Natural Dutch Cavendish
I mostly smoke english/Balkan blends, but I also like burley blends and cavendish in general, so I ordered a couple of ounces of this to try. Didn't like it at first, and put it aside for a while. Picked it up again after a month or so and thought, "this isn't so bad". The more I smoked it, the better I liked it, and that trend has continued. The "tin aroma" -- a misnomer, as this is a bulk blend -- is a lovely sweet, fruity burley fragrance. Pack it carefully, not too tight, light it carefully and it burns cool, slowly and evenly to the bottom of the bowl with few if any relights. Doesn't bite at all. A gentle, friendly blend. This has definitely found a home in my tobacco collection.

Dutch Cavendish Rediscovered
Many years ago, I smoked Troost and Sail Natural. When they became unavailable, I was forced to change tastes in my choice of tobacco. Now, the same smooth smoking taste is present in Stokkebye's 301 Nat Dutch Cavendish. I am elated!

What to say?
I only buy this blend to throw into custom blends I'm making from whole leaf to add sweetness to or my Scottish mixture. Overall it's perfect for what I want. Never smoked it by itself.

301 nat. dutch cavendish
This is a good quality non aromatic Cavendish that you can smoke all day long as i do,but it is not for the new smoker as it may be difficult to keep lit.

Nicely Done Cavendish
The tobacco’s flavor reminds me of Troost. This was my go to tobacco in the 1970s and 80s. I returned to Troost about a year ago and soon after Troost disappeared from the local market. 301 Nat Dutch is very close to Troost but doesn’t have the bite Troost has. It’s a tamer smoke but with all the flavor of Troost, yet somehow different. Give it a try. Even non-smokers seem to love the aroma and the room notes are not very heavy. It burns well and is not moist on opening. It’s one of my new daily go to tobaccos.

Better This Time
Last time I ordered I got something that seemed a little different, not bad, just didn't smell or taste like what I had gotten previously. This time I received what I remembered the 1st time I ordered it. I like the aroma and taste. It's great for blending. I will continue to order.

Best Dutch Cavendish for the cost
Good, basic Dutch Cavendish. Prices went way up in my state, so I started looking around on line. This is the best Dutch Cavendish I've found and is just like what I was buying locally. Tried another on-line tobacco company, didn't like the Dutch Cavendish I got from them and it was a lot more expensive.

Works for me
I've been buying a "Danish Cavendish" locally for years to roll my own cigarettes. Here in California, taxes just skyrocketed, so I looked around on line. I found two places and got an ounce from each. The Peter Stokkebye 301 Nat Dutch Cavendish I got from Pipes & Cigar was as good or even better than what I'd been getting locally, and a whole lot cheaper! Wish I'd found you sooner, but will definitely be a customer from here on out.

Peter Stokkebye 301 Natural Dutch Cavendish
The tobacco is a good honest Cavendish that hasn't been ruined for Me by them trying to make it even better by toasting it and turning it black. Toasting any Cavendish takes away the Cavendish taste I like. For many years I loved the original Troost slices but around 1985 it was no longer being imported to the USA and their ready rubbed small pouches just wasn't as good. I'm on my 3rd pound of this and although it isn't in the flake form, it's still a good honest Cavendish that I enjoy. I've been a pipe smoker for 53 years.

Straight forward tobacco...
...reminiscent of old Amphora from years ago. Smooth, easy load, easy burn, straight tobacco flavor with no noticeable topping. Cool if smoked slowly but will heat up uncomfortably and lose the pleasant flavors if you yank on it. Sweet, fresh cut hay with a very subtle bitter nut undertone. I use this as a palate reset smoke at times when my English taste buds go on the fritz. Nic hit leaning toward medium. At this price point, it certainly is worth keeping around.

No nonsense, straight tobacco flavor
Very tasty! This reminds me somewhat of Amphora, the original brown pouch, without the floral/fruity notes. It smells spicy in the bag, sort of reminiscent of the smell of a good beef stick or beef jerky. It smokes very well, mildly sweet with good body and tobacco flavor. By itself, this has a tendency to sting my tongue just a bit...not bite it per se, just an overall stinging sensation. A little drying time helps mitigate this quite a bit. I bought this as a blend stretcher to tone down some aromatics i find to be a little too much on their own, and it works well in this role, but I prefer it by itself or blended with other natural, unflavored tobaccos. Specifically, blended with Stokkebye Toasted Burley and a healthy pinch of makes for a fantastically flavored, cool smoking, slow burning blend with a good nicotine level and an absolutely fabulous aroma of baking brownies with no additional flavorings smells like an aromatic, but doesn't smoke like is where NDC really shines for me. A great, full flavored change of pace from my Virginia flake mainstays, whether on its own or blended as described above. This is a staple of my cellar, and I will definitely order more large quantities of this one. It also seems to be aging very well...I might upgrade this another star at a later date.

Stokkebye 301
Easy go-to burley forward Dutch cavendish. Satisfaction factor=High. Wow factor=Low. Reordering factor=High. Compared to Golden Extra, I think 301 has better legs at a distance.

It's OK
But nothing to write home about. Difficult for me to distinguish it from several other blends. Dan

PS 301 Natural Dutch Cavendish
I prefer a mild/medium tobacco and I have found the 301 Natural Dutch Cavendish to be a good fit for me. It is smooth, doesn't burn to hot and is a pleasant smoke in the afternoon or evening.

Very Good
This is a very good naturally flavored tobacco. Reminds me of MacBaren's Symphony

You don't have to have Dutch courage to try these two gems!!!
both these Stokkebye offerings are wonderful and very good representations of the unique Dutch Cavendish style. Good all day smokes and something different for English and Virginia smokers.

All day smoke for sure
I use this blend in making a blend I created called Rip Van Winkle. I use it as the base with added, Altadis Highlander, Lane 1-Q and Mac Baren Scottish Blend. You could smoke this Natural Dutch Cavendish all day. It has a nice old world colonial american theme to its flavor. Goes great with a cup of irish tea or even a good whiskey. Buy an oz and try it out, you'll most likely come back and buy more!

A Great Everyday Smoke
Peter Stokkebye’s Natural Dutch Cavendish is a mild to medium tobacco with a natural sweetness rather than an aromatic sweetness. The nuttiness of burley, the deliciousness of virginia, and the roundness and sweetness of unflavored cavendish make this a satisfying smoke that I reach for again and again. Gentle enough to smoke all day, yet tasty enough to satisfy. Could bite a bit if you get crazy with it, but if you go easy it will reward you with pipe after pipe of mellow goodness. My favorite blends are Dunhill Flake, Capstan Blue, and Dunhill Standard Mixture. The Stokkebye Natural Dutch Cavendish is a great ‘tweener for me. Recommended with enthusiasm!

This is not Amphora
It is much better. I've smoked quite a few packs of the long gone Amphora regular. This cavendish blend is likewise not an aromatic, but it is far more tastey, and, need I add, the price is right.

Wasn't too impressed! To me it had a mild taste like half and half. Will jar it up and revisit in the future.
