Peter Stokkebye 316 Sambuca

Peter Stokkebye No. 316 Sambuca combines large cut yellow Virginias with a chunky black Cavendish and a substantial splash of Sambuca flavor. For those who enjoy the flavor and aroma of black licorice, Sambuca is a must-try. We've also found that this tobacco is surprisingly good with just a dash of Black Latakia added.

Love the Smell, Love the Taste!
Lovely rich smell of licorice and it has a nice mellow flavor. I like to grind it up and mix it with my rolling tobacco.

Not what I expected
While PS 316 Sambuca smells wonderful and is obviously made with quality tobacco, it doesn't deliver in the taste department. If you're looking for a tobacco that actually tastes like Sambuca, this isn't it. Instead, it's a fairly mild aromatic, sort of like a bland version of Captain Black Regular (White).

Great alone or blended with a cherry cordial
I’ve been trying to recreate my dad’s blend from when I was a boy. Peter Stokkebye 316 blended with Cherry Cordial as close as I have been able to come. Many pleasant hours spent thinking about dad.

Licorice Bomb!
If you like licorice, this is the one for you. Nothing else comes close. I got a pleasant tingle (like very mild clove) but no bite and it didn't need any additional drying. Quality stuff. Three thumbs up!

different
This is quite a striking mix. yellow Virginia against the black cav, looks great. moisture was good. light, pleasant scent of licorice. I REALLY want to like this. it looks great, it smells "old timey". the topping came through a little light in the burn. my sample however tended to get bitey awfully quick. i really had to sip it almost too gently to keep it from getting too hot. there is obviously licorice, but i catch a slight confectionery note as well. reminds me of Lane 1Q but way way lighter. not really a detected tobacco flavor but its not made to be. i can see why others enjoy it. I'm going to let it sit a bit and see, but that's my first impression.

It lost the wife vote....
Good smoke, nice flavor - the licorice really comes out. Nice tobacco blend, burns well. BUT - the room note was not a wife pleaser. Sorry, I won't be smoking this one again!

Rip
Smoked this by itself and it was just OK, but when I mixed this with some Prince Albert it really hit the spot.1oz to one can is what taste good to me. I smoke this mix out of the largest deepest pipes I have especially when going on a long drive or when fishing .

Customer Testimonials
Great classic pipe tobacco aroma in the bag, light licorice flavor, and good base tobaccos. Glad I tried this one!
I just picked this up at the Post Office and when I got to work my entire car smelled like this pipe tobacco. If it smells that good coming out of the package and through the box, it has to be awesome. Can't wait to get home and try it. Thanks !! :)
A definite favorite. I will have to try the Sutliff Sambuca next!
