Peter Stokkebye 41 Cube Cut

Peter Stokkebye's Cube Cut is unusual, as most cube cuts are strictly Burley or Virginia, but this uses both tobaccos combined in layers which are Cavendish-pressed and cut into small cubes. The singular pouch aroma is one of tea and pepper, but the flavor is very gentle and the tobacco burns slowly. Great as a relaxing slow smoke on its own, No. 41 Cube Cut can also be added to any blend that burns too fast or needs a little more natural flavor.

Very Nice Va/Bur.
I have found Stokkebye’s Cube Cut Burley to be a very tasty blend of (mostly) burley and Virginia tobaccos which have been pressed together in layers for a time, then sliced, and then diced (cutting across the slices) to form nice little cubes. It’s basically minced tobacco, and it is an uncommon cut to find these days. As noted in other reviews, just gravity-feed the cubes into your bowl and very gently tamp. Leave some space at the top of the bowl as the cubes expand considerably upon lighting. This tobacco seemed at about the right moisture level and it was easy to light and to keep lit. It burned nicely to the bottom of the bowl. There was lots of nutty burley flavor with the Virginia providing a touch of sweetness. This blend is fairly similar to Carter Hall, Prince Albert, Chatham Manor and the like, except it seem a bit more robust to me. Lots of burley flavor, not too much nicotine, and still mild enough to be an all day smoke for me. And all at a very good price. If you like burley-based blends, you’ll like this. I highly recommend it!

A Cut Above the Rest
This is the best of burley and Virginia combined in a cute little cube. Do not tamp---let gravity have its way. A great smoke---burns to the bottom---to have in your rotation if you like both tobaccos.

Love the cube cut
This is a relaxing, mellow tobacco. It reminds me a lot of Edgeworrh RR. I've smoked ERR a lot over the last 40 years and exclusively for about 15 years right before it changed. This is as close to ERR as i have found. The casing is not too heavy. It reminds me of caramel. Just a light pack and a couple of charring lights and your good to go. Once some of the cubes catch, a few puffs and your good to go.

Not my cup of tea
I am just getting back into pipe smoking after a long interval of not doing so. I bought a variety of bulk tobaccos to sort of feel out where my taste lies. I found this blend to be more like a cigar. The taste was more of an attack on the tongue than the other tobaccos I've been trying. Not in the sense of a burning but a bit of biting or lingering strength. The mouthfeel was not as smooth as I've grown accustom to. I found it to light well and stayed lit pretty good even though I tried to not overdraw for fear of creating a harshness. I found no redeeming qualities in the taste but the aroma after I finished the bowl was a very nice, light natural tobacco smell. I will use the rest of this purchase to step up any other blends I feel may need a little extra oomph.

Great Bulk Buy
Smooth and slow burning, blends well with other virginias and a treat when used to lighten up heavier latakia blends. Would recommend and will buy again.

Fantastic
Amazing stuff. A regular weekly smile for me. I like Wessex Burley Flake and Solani Burley Flake for the Burleys, but when I want a strong Burley with a little sweetness I go for this. It has been compared to the different Edgeworth matches, but I like this better than any of those (and I think I've tried them all at this point!) The closest second to Cube Cut would be Uhle's 00 in my opinion. Gravity feel this tobacco and go.

Cocktail Hour
Very pleasant and nice....Pack by gravity and add a little something that you like to top it off. Enjoy, and repeat as desired.

Mellow tabac that give the perfect pack, smoke and nice taste
Wow, what a surprise. The cube cut makes for an fantastic pack. Just gravity fill and the tabac smokes perfectly - cool with copious smoke. Mellow flavor and room note. Excellent price in bulk. Not tongue bite whatsoever. This may become my regular smoke.

Worth the price.
P.S. makes some great bulk blends and this is one of them. Nothing to brag about. Just a smooth Virginia mix, you can smoke all day long. Gravity load, a light tamp, and you'regood to go

A cube Cut Above The Rest
Mmm Mmm Good. This is the second cube cut I have tried and I am glad I did. Really nutty taste and smokes cool, without tongue bite. The only issue I have had is sometimes small pieces of cube coming up the airway. I prefer to muse this in my MM cobs with a filter. Minimal dry time needed and no mess at the bottom when done. When I pack a bowl of this I plan on getting some reading done cause it stays lit for a while with a good slow cadence. Filling a bowl is very easy as well. Really nice.

Good smoke
It's good on its own but I use it to sweeten several other blends. Great compliment to English blends.

Extremely pleasurable smoke. Absolutely adore it.
I continue to be seriously impressed with nearly every Peter Stokkebye blend I've tried. This is no exception. I was pleasantly surprised by the mild sweetness of this blend. Overall, a very pleasant, all day, every day smoke in my opinion. When loading the pipe, simply let gravity do it's thing, and don't pack tightly at all. This is sure to become a standard for me. It's already in my shopping cart.

Blendxtender
Better for blending or blend extending. Nice, well behaved on it's own. May smoke slightly damp but nowhere near wet. Swiss army knife of pipe tobacco.

Delicious burley blend!
The aroma is delicate and slightly sour (owing to the burley). I detect a slight wisp of some of kind of liquor in the casing. I scoop the tobacco with the bowl of my pipe and tamp with care not to press it too much. The tobacco lights easily and the flavor is that of cocoa, tea, and toast. As the bowl progresses there is a little spice or pepper now and then and a little vanilla—but the chocolate flavor of the burley takes center stage supported by the natural sweetness of the Virginia. The tobacco burns well. Gentle tamping at the midpoint is necessary. No goop is left in the bowl. The room note is pleasant and seems to fade away quickly. This is a pleasant, no-fuss smoke—but with sufficient complexity to hold your interest.

Oeter Stokkebye 41 Cube Cut
I recently tried this since Stokkebye Tobacco was on sale At P&C. I like burleighs and cube cut burleigh in particular. My go to cube cut heretofore has been Uhle's blend 300. I have found that Stokkyebye # 41 is, for me, a better choice. It is not as sweet as the Uhle's although there is a bit of sweetness. There is also a fuller and richer toasty, nutty flavor that I look fon in burleigh blends. This will become a staple of my rotation. Very good indeed!

A true cube cut
This was an easy tobacco to light and smoke. It reminded me a lot of Edgeworth RR except for the light vanilla casing. I think that distracted from the smoke.

Love it!
This is my ideal tobacco. It's easy to pack but takes some effort to light evenly. Once lit, though, it is easy to smoke. I don't get any tongue bite. The flavor is straightforward, high-quality burley and virginia. I don't get any aromatic note from it, but it does have a pleasant aroma to my wife (and that's saying a lot).
Customer Testimonials
Enjoy this by itself, and experimenting with blending this as base with some latakia, perique. Cant beat price.
Didn't care much for it . i do like the taste but was hard to keep burning and in the end it just wasn't as good as others in my opinion ..might get more down the line but for now id rather try others.
I wish I had started smoking a pipe with this rather than all those tongue-scalding aromatics. Gravity filled and easily lit - yet, the real beauty is a tobacco that has a natural sweetness, burns cool, and can be innocently blended with other tobaccos to round out their flavor profiles. But on its own, its one of my favorites.
This is a great smoke. I am a flake fan and this is a really nice change of pace. It is the best and easiest packing tobacco I have ever used, and it gives a nice, long, mellow smoke. Good stuff, P & C!
Smokes similar to Half and Half without the top dressing.
