Stokkebye’s 84 Turkish Pipe tobacco is a flavorful blend of Turkish Samsoun (a legendary Oriental leaf) which is sun-cured and expertly blended with ripe Virginia tobaccos for a complex pleasing smoke. It is lightly aromatic and smooth. As a base for creating your own English/Balkan blend, No. 84 Turkish is the way to go.
This is a really enjoyable tobacco. Very smooth with a gentle taste and aroma which hides that in ten minutes you will become aware of the nicotine.
What this is and what it isn't. This is "not" your atypical "pipe" tobacco. Isn't designed to be. This is a European style cut and blend. It's meant primarily for rolling a smoke, smoking in a very small bowled meerschaum or clay, or for blending. Is it cigarette tobacco - technically no it isn't. It's a pipe cut and a pipe blend. It's not meant to be put in a filtered tube either, that would be "shag" cut. This is ribbon. But, its cut and it's design facilitates rolling old school. No filter, generally by hand. I enjoy it very much rolled. It's light to medium bodied and has a nice smooth, slightly sweet flavor. Cool burning and not bite. For the money you just cannot beat this quality. It's great on it's own, and it's great as a blender. It smooths out the blend, adds tobacco body to it. Unflavored tobacco. Just leaf here folks. I've not found that this line of tobacco's, Turkish, Amsterdam, Norwegian, Danish Export to be great bases for blending, but in a blend that is too weak, or too "flavorful" (ie latakia bombs) they work very nicely in evening out the blend and adding some simple tobacco flavor and a nice measure of nicotine, without throwing the overall balance out of whack. Flavor neutral. A fairly light smoke compared to the others in this genre. Not an "oriental" at all - this is just Turkish leaf. Generally a "oriental" meant for blending will be a mixture of varietal oriental leafs to obtain a certain body and flavor. It's great stuff. Grab a few ounces and a pack of papers, or a small meerschaum, you'll enjoy it. Takes a light nicely and burns evenly, cool and dry with little to no bite. Very one dimensional in flavor - straight slightly sweet Turkish. Start to finish. This mixed 50/50 with Norwegian makes an awesome smoke.
Love the taste of this tobacco I will be ordering more very soon.
I like this alot. It was a bit moist (never a bad thing) so I spread it out and let it dry a little - to just "crispy" around the edges. Makes for a great smoke, very Camel-ish. I will definitely be getting more.
Absolutely love the light smoke, and flavor as well as the body. I mix this with a little heavier blend and it absolutely kills! Love it on it's own almost more than any other tobacco on it's own.
I found this pleasant at first, but it became somewhat harsh about half way through the bowl. Perhaps it needs to be smoked very slowly to maintain the lighter tones.
This tobacco was very neat, in the way it's taste is ... very smooth, little bite at the finish and very pleasing for me, I might purchase another bulk in the near future.
