Second Upgraded Review
My second review of Luxury Twist. I finished my first batch of 24 oz. and enjoyed it thoroughly. I now have a second batch aging in three jars, while I smoke some from a fourth jar. It has grown on me as a mild, sweet, easy burning flake with a low nic hit. It also smokes relatively dry despite the light topping applied.

Reminds me of coconut
Every review I read doesn’t seem to address the fact that Twist Flake is pretty strongly flavored with what smells to me like toasted coconut. It is delicious no doubt, but for those that detest aros, this is an aromatic Va.

Very Good Bulk Va/Per
I’ve been smoking Peter Stokkebye’s Luxury Bullseye Flake pretty much side-by-side with this Stokkebye’s Luxury Navy Flake. The Navy flake is very similar to the Bullseye flake, as they are both Va/Pers. The main differences are that the Bullseye flakes have black cavendish, and they are cut into coins. The Navy flakes, as with the Bullseye flakes, have excellent burn characteristics, a great deal of flavor and balance between the Virginias and the Perique, and provide long smokes in the right pipe. The Navy flakes smoked well for me in a variety of pipes, but were best in my Rattray’s “Judge” poker and my “tulip” meerschaum carved by H. Ege. These pipes both have deep and relatively narrow chambers, which work very well with flake tobaccos. I use the “fold & stuff” method to load my pipe with this blend, but it smokes and tastes great prepared in other ways, too. Try stuffing, rubbing out the flakes, or even chopping them up, and see which way works best for you. This is a very good blend at a very good price. I guess all that is left for me to do is try Stokkebye’s Luxury Twist next! Highly recommended!

A Good Quality Smoke but...
A decent quality tobacco. Smokes well burning down to a fine ash. Rubs up well. But, too heavy on the flavorings for me. Also contains perique which I was unaware of when I purchased. Perique causes me to have headaches and nightmares. This may be congenital condition. I remember my father (a life long pipe smoker too) having the same reaction to tobaccos with perique. I am still looking for a replacement for my first love - Troost Special Flake in the tin.

Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake
A great tobacco. A very mellow VaPer in which the Perique is not overpowering like in too many other blends. The moisture level is just right. It’s easy to rub out and there are no packing, lighting or burning problems. The smoke is cool and dry. This tobacco won’t bite. It burns down nicely right to the bottom of the bowl. It has the right amount of nicotine that I personally desire. Finally, the 24 ounce box deal from P&C is a great value for such an excellent tobacco. It has become my all-day smoke.

PS Luxury Navy Flake!
Found this back in the early 80s. Still luv it. Grassy, some fruit notes, a little hay as they say. Smooth smoke.

Better with age
LTF is pretty ordinary when fresh, but age it a year or two and it smokes like the expensive brands. I buy it a box at a time and jar it all up while I smoke the batch I bought two years before. The same goes for Bulleye Flake. Let it be for a year or two and it becomes something special. Btw, P&C shipped my last 24 oz. of LBF in bulk instead of the box I ordered and not one coin was damaged in shipment. Great packaging job guys! Now I’ll no longer hesitate to buy the flakes in bulk. Great price too. I’ll be back for more!

My once per day luxury!
My favorite after dinner smoke for many years. (I used to live in Denmark where they have (had?) fabulous pipe and tobacco stores!)
