Peter Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake is a wonderful, all-Virginia flake made in a singular way. Virginias are layered with a smooth added essence and rolled into ropes which are then placed into a form and firmly pressed. After pressing, the block is sliced for easy preparation. This is a smooth, mellow, slightly sweet flake that any Virginia lover will enjoy.
"Maavelous Dah'ling.....simply maavelous! I've tried this in 7 different bowl shapes and sizes, to see if I could get a bad smoke...couldn't. (That included folded, crumbled and hand-rubbed.) And the moisture content is perfect."
The sweetness on this one has made it a favorite of mine, part of the experience it provides is that it can accommodate several ways of savoring it; Fully rubbed; Just folded, which it will need a few relights; Let to dry a little; And my favorite, folded and cut to squares with a scissor. Not to miss.
This is an absolutely outstanding Virginia! I have never been so impressed with a value priced tobacco that is so good. All of the members of the pipe club to which I belong love this stuff. I personally am an English blend fan, my buddies are aromatic fans, and NO ONE has ever complained about this tobacco! I don’t consider myself to be an expert by any means. The only other Virginia flakes that I have tried were Orlik and Dunhill. All three of these flakes I like, although Orlik is a really different animal. Out of all three, I like Dunhill the best, but only by a little. It is a VERY close match. And when you factor in the price point for this stuff, it’s no contest. By the way if you’re into storing tobaccos, a quart Mason jar will hold 15 ounces. You may be able to squeeze in an extra ounce, but it might be tight. Buy a pound, jar up 15 ounces, and save out an ounce for yourself for immediate gratification.
Good quality tobacco but be careful about pushng it too hard as I sometimes do. Smoke slow and easy for enjoyment; push it and it may bite a bit.
A good medium strength flake. Nice aroma and taste. Got a little tongue bite, but I tend to puff a lot faster than I probably should. :)
One of the best Virginia flakes I have tried. Very mellow and delicious. Very intriguing tin note too.
I love this flake. I'm smoking a bowl right now and let me tell you that it's one of my favorite blends. I like to pull the flakes apart, rub them out and tri-feed them into the bowl. Two flakes fill a medium bowl and one light and I've got smoking bliss. Smooth, creamy flavor. I highly recommend this fine Virginia blend.
Smoked this while mowing the grass tonight. Got it in a trade. Seriously great stuff. I'm mostly an aro smoker, but this will end up in my cellar for sure.
Luxury Twist Flake falls between mild to medium strength to me. It's a light refreshing smoke with a nice sweetness that's is a change of pace from the stronger blends that I typically smoke.
This is a wonderful medium bodied flake. It rubs well or folds and stuffs beautifully. For me, smoked slowly in a medium size bowl (great in a cob) it is sweet, full and fills my nose with that great grassy, sweet feed and hay smell that I love so much. It is easily in my top 3 VA flakes, smokes great, doesn't stink up my beard or mustache much, is an awesome value in bulk, and complex enough to keep my attention but simple enough to be an all day smoke. I would recommend just a little dry time, couple hrs maybe or I just keep 10 or so flakes in a junky tin in my pack that isn't close to air tight and it dries really nice over a couple days. A must for VA flake smokers. Happy smoking
One of my favorites. Very mellow. Jar some up and let some dry a few hours for a nice smoke that doesn't bite
Great smoke. burns good. Smells like fresh cut hay. I like it very much. Not my #1 but still good enough to keep it on hand.
