Peterson Irish Oak

Peterson Irish Oak is a singular blend of Virginias from Zimbabwe, naturally sweet black Cavendish, flavorful Burleys and Acadian Perique. The unique additional step of aging the mixture in sherry barrels made of oak lends an unusual nuance to both the flavor and aroma. For a unique, slightly aromatic experience, Irish Oak delivers.

Peterson Irish Oak
Pretty good stuff, actually. Pleasant pouch note. It didn't stay lit for the first couple of bowls, so I dried it out just a little bit-- around twenty minutes or so. After that, it stayed nice. I like the flavor profile. I am not a seasoned pipe smoker, so I couldn't tell you all the nuances therein, but I certainly like how bold it is. I can't speak for room note, since I have to smoke outside in a nearly constant wind tunnel, and I haven't had anyone next to me at that-- but I'm pretty sure it's nice and pleasant as well. I have had zero problems outside of moisture content in the beginning, but a very short dry spell worked out any kinks. I would highly recommend anyone to add this to their stash whenever t it isn't sold out (I was trying to get Irish Flake, but that will be for the next time.

Hopes too high maybe?
This is one of the few tobaccos I've ever really been disappointed with. My hopes were high, which probably wasn't the best place to start. I'm taking it easy on the old oak, because I first tried it during my, "stepping away from aromatics" period, and I have since learned that my personal tastes don't favor strong burley flavor. Most of all, I found it less exciting than the description led me to believe it was. I didn't get much out of the sherry cask aging, and didn't get a very noticeable Virginia pop. I love Peterson pipes, but none of their blends that I've tried every really knock it out of the park for me

Very nice burn... Some tobaccos
Very nice burn... Some tobaccos won't hold a flame while others burn like tinder leaving nothing but ash and broken pipe dreams of relaxing evenings and deep thoughts, not so with this tobacco. The flavor rolls across my tongue as the leaves slowly burn to a satisfying close.

Better Than Expected
I love all things VaPer but for whatever reason I have been slow to trying this blend. Maybe its the unattractive tin art? I am thankful to have finally picked some up on my last order. It has a lovely tin aroma and perfect moisture content. Although, the blend will burn quickly if you do not pace yourself. The flavor profile is dark dried fruit and a generous, but not overwhelming spice. The blend is balanced and consistent throughout. This blend is worth giving a shot.

Irish oak is non aromatic to aromatic tabacco. Blend of tabacco's is well done.Room note is mellow &distinct. Irecomand give it a try I think smokers will agree it's a great smoking tabacco.

wished it were like an oak
Tasted like a cigarette. tried different pipes. Unlike the other reviewers I found no redeeming qualities about this blend.

Nice
Found it to be mild-ish. will have to smoke more of it to get to the bottom of the flavors. but from the first bowl it is an easy smoke, pleasant, well blended. Feels like it will go into the rotation.

Saturday morning smoke
I found this to be a mild, relaxing smoke it burns very well has just the right amount of sherry cask essence and a very distance fruity sweetness as you progress towards the bottom of this bowl you encounter a bit of pepper. Although this is not a every day smoke for me I really enjoy gently nudging my pipe as i watch the critters play with this Saturday morning go to smoke.

Top shelf VA-Per
One of the best VA-Per blends available. I only bought one ounce to sample but I really enjoyed this smoke tonight. It reminds me very much of some of my favorite Navy Flake that I have tried. I will certainly be buying much, much more of this blend, just fantastic.

Not much of a Latakia blend or any English style, but this one hit the spot. Very enjoyable will buy again.

Irish Oak
A good smooth smoke, not a lot of bite with just the right amount of Oakness.

Top Tier!!
Definitely a top tier smoke, good virgina flavor and a little touch of sweetness/liquor with the aging in sherry barrels.

excellent mild Va-Per tobacco
A ribbon cut after drying for 30 min. Consistency reminded me of Royal yacht. Easy to light and could taste the Virginia's ( woodsy hay) and cavendish ( slight chocolates with cherries ? ) taste with the perique pepper in the back. As the smoke progressed less chocolate & more pepper taste. Definite nicotine hit in the 2nd half of the bowl. Mild Va-Per light nicotine tobacco will buy again.

Irish Oak and Scotch please.
A robust tin of flavor that brings off-notes compared to your typical blends. This Oak Sherry matured blend raises the bar for flavors, lending a very specific and exotic taste as if I was drinking a fine scotch (which I did later enjoy with my Tomatin 12yr, exquisite!). The same goes for the nose on this pipe, this is an all around great blend you won't forget. A must own!
Customer Testimonials
So, I bought this off the suggestion of my local tobacconist after work today. Cracked the can open and smoked a bowl. This is a well balanced blend, there are sweety, creamy, and peppery notes. A good tobacco, however, I can't see buying it again. It is very underwhelming.
