Peterson Irish Whiskey

Don't let the name fool you, Peterson's Irish Whiskey is not your ordinary whiskey-flavored aromatic. In fact, it's not heavily flavored at all. This blend of a variety of Burleys from around the globe and hearty dark-fired Kentucky is substantial in body a rich, with just enough Irish whiskey to be noticeable.

I almost feel as though it is too soon to review this tobacco, because I am half way into my first bowl However, one can tell a lot about a tobacco from first impressions. Peterson makes great tobaccos, no question. And some are better than others. But as an aromatic, it has a hint of whiskey with enough flavor to satisfy most any pipe smoker. I really am enjoying this bowl of tobacco. Maybe after a few bowls I might feel differently about it, but I don't think so. If you like aromatics you can't go wrong with this one. It is just enough to sit back and enjoy it as I have so far. This is excellent!

Irish Whiskey
I'm the kind of smoker who likes a robust and well cured tobacco. I am not much on wet tobacco that makes my pipe a water-pipe. The Irish Whiskey is a well cured tobacco, suitable for mixing, or enjoying. I warn that it is strong, and best when I want a few sessions from the same pack of my pipe. I like medallions and flake if that tells you what kind of tobacco I like. This Irish Whiskey is suitably strong for my taste. I first found it at a local tobacco shop for considerably more money. It was nice to find it on the Pipes and Cigars site for a great price. Irish Whiskey has a bold sweet taste. It will begin to have a bite if allowed to burn too hot.

Peterson Irish Scotch
To me the combo of the dark smoke from the Kentucky and the tinge of Irish Whiskey combine to create a flavor id describe as a "watered down peaty scotch". Its not bad, nor good, purely interesting.

Smoked this in my MM at 20 deg. F and it was delicious. Not as good at 70 deg. F.

Pleasant surprise
I really like this stuff. It doesn't come across as an aromatic at all, just an excellent burley blend with a hint of sweetness in the background. I don't notice any taste of whiskey, but it doesn't take anything away from this blend. The nic hit seems about average. It is great if you want a break from English blends and don't want an overly sweet topped aromatic. I'm flying through this first tin, and will be ordering more.

Marvelous entry level pipe!
Peterson is my go to maker for quality and traditional shapes. This XL90 has the size and heft I was looking for and was also a 9mm filter. Decent price and a quality product.

Petersons Irish whiskey tobacco
I found the Irish whiskey tobacco to be very mild and a hint of sweetness. I call this a thinkin tobacco. Light it up sit back and get lost in your thoughts

Dark and Seductive
I didn't expect much from this tobacco initially because I'm not big on many aromatics, but I was pleasantly surprised with this one. This is a very substantial Virginia/Burley/Dark Fired Kentucky mixture with just a hint of whiskey topping as well as something else I can't detect, but is very nice. If you like the Peterson flakes you will definitely enjoy this

There is a Reason it is Sold by the Pound
You don't taste too much Whiskey with this blend and over all it's hard for me to put my finger on exactly what I am tasting, but whatever it is it is delicious. Great flavor all around, not to harsh and not too mild. One of my all time favorites I find myself buying over and over again. There is a reason it is sold by the pound.

Not to good.
I am not a good judge of pipe tobacco. I wanted to try a better quality tobacco than I usually buy. I found this & Irish oak to be harsh and rather tasteless. The tins were sealed so tight that I had to put them in a vice & use a strap wrench to open them. I may try 1 more Peterson tobacco & hope it is better. If I do it will be something that comes in pouch.
Customer Testimonials
Smooth with whiskey, thing is no cavendish, yes, so not too sweet and that's the way I like it. Enjoyable change of pace, not so fancy and not just plain BUT mildly hardy.

This blend is real good, very stout, and quite powerful. I can only smoke a little at a time. Got my dad into it. Bought the 1lb package. It was air tight sealed, fresh, and definitely potent. Peterson is a master of his art.

Wow ...just wow. I Loved this tin! Very smooth and just the most wonderful tast of my faverite wiskey. More please! :D

Oh HELL YES. This is exactly what I was looking for. Just finished a tin of The Royal Yacht and was looking for a good replacement to accompany my mornings of coffee and a reading. Something was going on with this blend as its usually plentiful but when I went to order, 3 of my usual 4 tobacconist had it sold out. Scored a tin from PipesandCigars. Thanks guys you rock. Loaded my Peterson XL305. The flame took to the bacca like a fat girl to a pizza. This is a great tasting burley blend with great aroma and room note. I don't consider this an aromatic but a good solid natural tobacco blend with a topping. The topping shows and is wonderful for this Irishman. And, yes it's a great Irish Whisky flavor. It adds interest with sweetness and flavor to an already quality and pleasant burley blend. Nice nicotine kick to give it that morning punch. I already like it better than Royal Yacht because it taste more natural. RY though good, had a unnatural chemical taste to it. Irish Whiskey is a man's tobacco. It will put hair on your chest.. so if you are a female fellow piper and smokes Irish Whiskey watch out… or email some pics…. ;) I will give it 4 stars as I can't find anything negative to this blend. Its just right for me. However if you aren't looking for this style of blend you will be disappointed. Happy smoking fellow pipers.. Smoke it up!

good stuff. no bite, didn't taste like ash at the end of the bowl, and had a ok flavor.

This tobacco has to be one of my favorite blends. Just like whiskey it has a strong bite to the taste and hits the spot. I usually smoke this after meaty meal, seems to hit the right flavor ascent after such meal.

This is the first tin pipe tobacco I have ever tried. Smelled nice when I opened the tin. I liked the taste and aroma of it when I smoked it, but it was a little strong to me. Maybe because I am still fairly new to pipe smoking and I have to get used to stronger tobaccos. It's still a nice one and I will keep smoking it!

This is a daily smoke for me. Great aroma and a great smoke!
