The Perique for the RO Series Perique Blend B-41 comes from the Belmont region of the Golden Triangle of St. James Parish. It has a buttery character that's reminiscent of brined olives. There is also a red pepper kick to it. To take advantage of this singular Perique, Russ combined it with shag-cut golden Virginia and dark-fired Kentucky for a uniquely bold experience.

The B-41
I just opened my first tin of B-41 a few days ago. I didn't quite know what to think, upon viewing a very fine shag cut. But what a great smoke! It burned slightly fast, but didn't get overly hot. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of KY dark-fired, but its use in this expertly blended tobacco is superb. Getting into the high range of nicotine though. Smaller pipe is the way to go here.

Perique and unique
I loved the bold flavor of this blend. Coffee and espresso notes in each puff, was hard not to let the bowl get to hard of a draw with all that flavor... Will buy while quantities last.

A personal favorite
Very unique and extremely tasty. The shag cut works perfectly for this blend. I have no issues with it burning hot or too fast, but it did take a few bowls to learn how to get the most enjoyment out of it. I think Russ really got it right on this one and I will most definitely be buying more tins while it's still available. I love the olive and red pepper notes and how they meld together in a buttery smooth way. I like it in a smaller pipe.

RO blend 41 cut
A nice, flavorful smoke but using a thin string cut was not a good idea. A ribbon cut would have worked better. It burns too fast and thus can burn hot. It needs a large pipe bowl, more periodic tamping and slow smoking. Not much perique detected.

RO Perique
Good stuff I would define it as a complete tobacco quick burner.

having never indulged in this type of tobacco I was unsure. Should have tried sooner, extremely good, loved it!
