Back in 2009, Rocky Patel came out with a cigar that celebrated his birth year. I usually attempt to try all the new cigars and when I tried Rocky Patel 1961, it immediately became a favorite, and I went through a few boxes. I went into our humidor one day to stock up, and they were gone - 1961 had been discontinued. Imagine my surprise and delight when I found out that this enjoyable medium to full-bodied cigar was back, and every bit as good as I remembered.
Clad in a satiny Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Rocky Patel 1961 also boasts a Honduran binder and Nicaraguan long-fillers. Beautifully well-made with a triple cap, it looks as good as it tastes. There are rich toasty notes with hints of cedar and baking spices, making this a great choice with a glass of bourbon or scotch, or a rich, dry red. 1961 may not be your birth year, but yiou can celebrate anyway.
