Samuel Gawith Chocolate Flake

Samuel Gawith Chocolate Flake is not exactly what it would appear. Absolutely Delicious!!
Absolutely Delicious!! I personally don't consider this an aromatic. The chocolate is there, but it fades in and out making the smoke very interesting. The chocolate flavor mixes extremely well with the Latakia to the point where they each tone down the other. On the retrohale I definitely get a note that reminds of a tootsie roll and that is how I describe the mix of the chocolate and Latakia. They create almost a tootsie roll like taste. You get hints of chocolate in the room note while you're smoking the pipe, but if you leave the room and come back 2 minutes later, the room has a Latakia forward note and you don't get any chocolate. I really enjoy this blend and it has become my favorite. Quick note, it comes very moist so you need to take time to find the right drying time that works for you. I keep the flakes whole and let them dry out for a couple hours and then put them in a Jar. For me, I take a flake out of the jar and do the fold and stuff method. In order to keep the ember lit I find the breathe method works amazingly to keep you from constantly puffing and having to relight every 5 minutes.

S G Chocolate Flake
This is my go to flake. Burns well, the taste is outstanding. You barley detect the chocolate. Pack the bowl right and it lasts for a long time. The only blends that could compete with it are Capstan's Original, Peterson's University Flake, or H&H Anniversary FLake. If you haven't smoked flakes before, give this a try. A hot cup of coffee with this is sublime!

One of the best tins/tobaccos I’ve ever tried
Matter of fact I think that this might be some of the best pipe tobacco that I’ve ever tried, I guess that’s the reason it’s always backordered.

Great tobacco
I have to admit that at first when I bought it it would be a nice chocolatey and rich tobacco but when I opened it it had a really bizarre smell that was slightly chocolatey and I just put it in my pipe and lit it and it is extremely delicious and has a unique specific taste I’ve never got from another tobacco.

I have loved this tobacco
I have loved this tobacco for years but would prefer the smaller tin.

Grrat Blend
If you like a little chocolate flavor, then this is the blend for you! Nice mild chocolate flavor that does not over power the great taste of the virginia tobacco.

ok blend.
It's an OK blend . I was hoping for a great experience because it's got latakia and I figured it would be nice mixed with an aromatic ,but was kinda dissapointed don't really get much of anything. But I that was me smoking it without giving it a little drying time,so I will dry it out a little then let you know how it taste then. But I'll tell you what pipes and cigars is the only place I buy my tobaccos from they are great.

Not my favorite
This blend is not my favorite. It was very moist in the tin, and it didn't smell very appealing. Dried it out for a day or so and gave it a smoke. It was tough to burn, and wouldn't stay lit. The smoke tasted very earthy and neither tasted or smelled very chocolatey. Perhaps it needs to age for a bit. Not sure I'll reorder.
Customer Testimonials
This is a fantastic flake. The primary component, as far as taste, is the lovely earthy, nutty, musty burley. Secondly is the topping which is not chocolate but a more bitter cocoa. While smoking this blend the Virginia's, which are sweet, poke its head out occasionally to make the cocoa turn chocolate for moments until the blend returns to again to its original, burley cocoa, state. This is a slightly aromatic that burley lovers will enjoy greatly.

This tobacco gives off an aromatic room note, but smokes and tastes like a bit like an English blend. The Mrs. loves it. It's one of my new favorites.
