Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake is a fully-matured, all-Virginia flake, made by cold-pressing select flue-cured tobaccos which are later put into a steam press to deepen the flavor. The flavor is lightly-sweet and completely natural, and the processing helps develop some noticeable strength. Full Virginia Flake is a classic tobacco that's known for smooth flavor with a nice "kick."
This is my first Full Virginia that I have smoked. I found it to be a bit strong for a novice pipe smoker. There is a definite notice of nicotine in this tobacco that at time I found to be to strong. I found the flavor to be that of fresh cut hay and the smell was the same. I have cellared the rest of my tin and plan to revisit it in a few years.
This is the first flake tobacco that I have smoked and all I can say is that I am impressed! There is a rich sweetness that comes through that I do not get with other tobaccos. While it takes a little bit more "babysitting" to keep it going, your extra work will be rewarded.
Wow, a very pleasing smoke. The taste is grassy, but due to the steam press is different than most. It has a slight sweetness that will keep you intrigued, and is cool burning to make it an all around good smoke.
Kind of a grassy sour smell, sort of confirmed that I'm not a fan of straight virginia blends. Gonna cellar it for a year and see how it stands then
A very tasty smoke. Pleasant room note. Smooth on the palate. Will definitely buy again!
