Samuel Gawith Kendal Plug

Samuel Gawith Kendal Plug is made from the same select Virginias as their well-known Best Brown, and is pressed into a firm block. The combination of no added flavorings and the fact that it is left in plug form makes the flavor profile quite different than Best Brown. Kendal Plug is a  medium-bodied tobacco and mellow enough to be enjoyed at any time while still being substantial enough to satisfy.

Time time, ask me for anything but time.
I find plug to be an interesting descriptor of this tobacco. In the loosest since it is a plug but it's almost more of a loose leaf tobacco, there is a lot more to prepping this tobacco than a typical plug in that you must dig through it to find suitable bunches of tobacco to actually cut. That being said, if you have time to kill, and it will take time, you really can get some great tobacco flavor from this blend. You have to let it dry quite a bit. I'm talking half an hour of drying out time at least. Or it will not stay lit. I am putting some back I'm my cellar to age a bit and I'll try it again in a couple years and see how it tastes then. Smoke on pipers!

Great Plug
This plug is very difficult to prepare, but well worth the work. It is a straight Virginia in the truest sense. It is sweet and doesn't seem to have much of the Lakeland flavor many SG or G&H blends tend to have. If you like straight Virginia's give this stuff a sot.

Best Brown Plug
Like Best Brown Flake, this is one of the finest Virginias available for me. Medium strength with a robust sweetness, some grassy/hay flavors. This plug also has a bit of spice that I didn't get from the flake version. A 5 star tobacco!

Put your feet up.
Pure Virginia (Meat&Potatoes) tobacco, the way it should be IMO. Take your time, like pipe smoking itself it takes patience to enjoy this plug. Slice, rub, dry and puff away. Wonderful sweet hay like notes, just a relaxing tobacco.

Good, but...
Kendal Plug is a good tobacco, but it does have two flaws: 1, The way it arrives. The blocky, plug style is great but, in bulk, it appears to be raggedly torn from a larger piece. This doesn't make for easy cutting once you get to those parts. 2, It is a blend that needs dedicated, patient cadence of smoking. The pushing it will cause it to bite pretty sharply. That being said, the taste is delicious. If these qualms don't seem to be a big deal for you, and you like the taste of Virginias, go for this one in a big way.
