Samuel Gawith's Navy Flake is a different take on the traditional Navy flake. The majority of the blend consists of Samuel Gawith's superior Virginias, to which a bit of Latakia is added. The classic note of rum is added before pressing. Samuel Gawith Navy Flake is an especially rich and satisfying blend for those who like a bit of Latakia.
I enjoy navy flakes, but sometimes they are too sweet and i wish they had some perique or latakia in them. This fits the bill. You get the latakia up front, subtle and smoky and then you get a mild kiss of sweetness that dances with the smokiness and little bit of spice.

I love this stuff. It's my daily go-to smoke. If I had to pare my collection down to one tobacco, this would be it. It doesn't overwhelm in any particular category, it's just solid and reliably great. Works folded and stuffed, or rubbed out. Does seem to burn a bit hot if you're not careful though. Regardless, I love it.

Smokey, slightly nutty and a musty sweetness that is reminiscent to a much milder version of Dunhill 965. I would grab a bit in in bulk, but due to its fussiness (packing, beef jerky texture, drying, prepping), I find I just reach for my 965 instead.

Rum note? No!
What you'll get is a nice Latakia flake. Something a old salt will smoke all day, everyday. One of my favorite flakes at the moment.. Dark, rich and complex. Tin note of beef jerky.. Don't let that put you off!
