Scotty's Bulk Blends - Salmon River

its ok has some tongue bite

Just received it this morning,what's to say frick'n awesome,I normally smoke a Black Cavendish Blend,thought I'd try something different & not disappointed,smokes great,taste & smell also great,definitely a winner for me

I smoke alot, especially while I'm out working in whatever weather mother nature tosses at me that day. Sometimes, I work 14 hour days. This blend is absolutely fantastic for a mellow, tasteful, all day smoke, and I highly recommend it for anyone a fan of mellow tobaccos.

A mild aromatic tobacco,pleasant flavor not overwhelming

I was very pleased when I tried this product. I couldn't put my finger on the aroma for a while but I think it's maple. I went in not knowing what to expect and came out happy.

This one is, hands down, one of my favorites! Granted I'm new to smoking pipes, but I absolutely love this blend. I wish I knew how to articulate exactly why. It makes me want to go fishing, and when I do, I'm going to bring this blend with me to smoke on the water!

smooth cool

I really enjoyed this blend. The room note reminded my wife of being in her uncle's log cabin with the fireplace lit. Nice, mellow smoke with just hint of sweetness.

This is a really good mix, full flavor and smooth smoke. I like it a lot and will use it again. I prefer Scotty's " Trout Stream " . I can't really put a finger on it. Tastes a little different, not better, just different. I go back and forth, I like them both, and will reorder both. Try them both and see which one you like best. You will like either one.

I thought I couldn't be surprised anymore by how incredible Scotty's blends are, I was wrong. It's not that one is better than another or one blend is the best. Each is so unique and so exceptionally enjoyable that I have a hard time believing it AS I'm experiencing it. This when blended with Butternut Burley comes very very close to trout stream, about a hair or two away. On its own it burns cool albeit too fast, but when combined with Butternut Burley it's on a whole other level. Delicious flavor (although surprisingly BB was slightly sweeter on its own vs SS on its own), no drying time on this one (beautiful springy tamping and perfect level of water/dampness), no tongue bite, great "tin"/bag note (though BB beats it IMO). Though pretty darn good on its own, I HIGHLY recommend 50/50 mix with Salmon River. The room note isn't quite as fantastic as Trout Stream but it's better than BB when smoked just by itself. However at this point I really don't care. These blends are out of this world Scotty.

A pleasant mild smoke

This is a great all-day tobacco. It's smooth with no bite and a nice, but intrusive, room note. Perhaps most important, it has a high WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor). Great value for the price AND you can get it in bulk. It's become another staple for me.

This is a great smoke. Easy going and smooth, even when it's overheated a bit. Definitely going to become a go-to for me.

An equal to Trout Stream and Bass Pond, in other words a great aromatic.

I think I have finally found my favorite tobacco after trying many many different kinds over the years. I highly recommend Scotty's Salmon River to anyone who wants a smooth, cool, satisfying smoke.

Good aromatic with no vanilla goop. It starts out mild but moves to medium half way down the bowl, burns clean and fresh with a pleasant maple flavor and aroma. This is a good one.

Nice. Smooth, no bite, not a strong aromatic, but has a pleasant room note.

Love all of Scotty's fishy blends. Trout stream is our favorite and Salmon River is next! Just something so smooth, light, comforting and very smokable about both of these. Salmon River is great!

It was ok. Not as good as Trout Stream

I smoke mostly Cavendish-based aromatics. I was not expecting salmon river to be as sweet or as smooth as it is nor was I expecting the aroma to be as pleasing as it is. I really enjoy salmon river and so does everyone else in the boat.

Not so much tobacco flavor, casing reminiscent of chems.

The flavor reminds me of the taste of maple syrup mixed with melted butter that collects in the pockets on a hot waffle. Truly delightful. This ribbon cut comes at an ideal moisture level but could stand a little drying time for it to reach perfection. It packs easily, lights easily and burns fairly cool, even for an aromatic. If smoked gently but steadily, it burns all the way to the bottom of the bowl with few relits, if any, and leaves little to no dottle. Great on the river or just relaxing in your hammock on a Sunday morning (or any time).

I'm not big on Sutliff tobaccos of which this is one. With that said, I just ordered another pound of this!! Yes, ANOTHER pound. This is subtle all the way around. Subtle maple, subtle burley, subtle room note, etc. etc. It stays lit, is gentle if you don't puff like a locomotive and has become my all day tobacco. If you're not into "heavy" or syrupy, give this a try.

I fill my bowl with Trout Stream and 1Q, (my 2 main "go to"). I tried Bass Stream and no likee. So when I saw Salmon River, I thought, "I like to fly fish for trout. smoke Trout Stream. I like to fly fish for Salmon so......" I got a few oz and fired it up. Not bad! A good smoke, not strong, no tongue bite. I dunno if it'll be my "all the time smoke", (That's 1-Q), but I'll burn this up and get more. Just my 2 cents!

What a pleasant surprise! This tobacco delights me so. Every bowl is just as good as the last, if not better. Living near three rivers, I actually was able to smoke this one on the banks of the Salmon River and it couldn't have been more perfect a companion on a cool early spring day! Mellow, no tongue bite, nutty, tasty, and just the right amount of maple to wet the whistle!

Very nice smoke. Scotty's Salmon River is aromatic, clean burn, no harsh taste. I purchased 3 other brands at the same however the only pipe I use is the one packed with Salmon River. You can't go wrong and will not be disappointed.

Light, smooth, wonderful aroma. We think it's mellow but tasty.

If you want a smooth maple flavor with lots of creamy smoke, great taste and a delicious aroma, Scotty's Salmon River may be for you. You may get tired of people pestering you to ask what you are smoking and where they can get some, though.

As usual good tobacco is used. I was hopping for more maple flavor, just wasn't there but I did enjoy the blend.

I tried a couple ounces of this to compare with C&D Autumn Evening and was very surprised. I liked it better. Great maple taste and aroma. You can still taste and smell it after the pipe has been put aside. Everytime I smoke a bowlful my wife has a craving for pancakes. Will definatly buy more.

Finely crafted subtle flavor makes it nice and easy on the palate, smooth - burns a little faster than Scotty's Bass Pond; nevertheless, good for a relaxing smoke.

I just picked up a few ounces of Salmon river to try. I could fish my favorite trout stream and smoke my pipe all day with this blend. A nice mild smoke to the bottom of the bowl.

Tried a two ounce pack of this for curiosity sake. This is really nice! Mild, mellow and stays lit. The maple is certainly there but not over-powering and doesn't "bite" like so many other maples. I recommend it and will certainly order more.

The pouch note is not bad, but the taste and room note was all maple and plenty of it. Good after taste and I smelled it for hours after smoking (I have a beard). In my book, better than Autum Evening.
