Smoker's Pride Rich

Too harsh, too dry, to smoke it by itself. No flavor other than that of hay upon opening the bag. Medium to medium-high strength, with an immediate tendency to bite. Also thick-cut ribbons, which makes filling a pipe difficult. The only way to smoke this is to mix it with a mild aromatic.

I just bought a small bag to try, and it's some really great tobacco, and I have made a few nice mixtures from it, and smokes really nice, and mixes well with all I've tried with it. Definitely a good choice.

It is a well refined straight up smoke. No stems. Full rich flavor.

It's okay, it's a little bit nicer than a Mississippi cathadar bag, or some north Carolina diarrhea. I'll say 4 stars

good smoker, for all day, no bite

SPR is about as straight-forward a blend as you'll find anywhere. It was adequately moist on opening. Also, didn't have much of a pouch aroma. But it lit well and gets good marks for a long burn. Just a bit bland, like PA with less of a punch. A straight-up all day smoke and good mixer, but I'll probably pass on re-ordering it.

Good strait forward burley with some Virginia. After some hydration it smokes mild and flavorful when smoked slow. Makes a great mixer too. It's a great smoke that's better than most in the same price range.

I generally rate a blend according to how it stands against others of its ilk. Years ago I made a purchase from a tobacconist in Switzerland of what he called 'Traditional Swiss' blends. Most of them turned out to be very much like Smokers Pride Rich in cut, moisture, pouch aroma and flavor. It seems that in Europe, seasoned pipe smokers prefer this kind of tobacco. Later I tried to smoke similar blends in a pipe (Red Cap, Half n' Half, etc.) and found them to be just awful, a hot, acrid, cigarette-like experience. Then I found SPR. I enjoy balanced Bur-Va blends that have a minimum of casing, topping and condiment tobacco. This is what I have been looking for and you can't beat the price with a stick.

This tobacco isn't bad, but it isn't great either. Smokes somewhat harsh, doesn't have a lot of flavor, and isn't consistent. That said, if you really need tobacco and have a shoestring budget, this may be the option for you.

Good tobacco but i don't like the cut,it's to thick.Would have gave it 4 stars if not for the cut.

Burns well, smells good. Top quality.

A bit strong taste
