Softy Pipe Bits

Softy Pipe Bits are a huge hit among the P&C Faithful, and it's easy to understand why. First, they will protect your stems from tooth marks and chatter, preserving the value of your pipes. They are also much more comfortable for people with sensitive teeth or dentures and give you a more positive grip on the mouthpiece. They're also great for vulcanite stems, as they help protect against oxidation.

P&C carries two sizes of Softy Bits, so you can put one on almost any pipe you own. The Large has thinner, stretchier walls and a larger opening, so they're ideal for those extra-wide stems that are so popular on oval-shank pipes. The Small have thicker walls and a smaller opening, giving you a snugger fit on smaller stems and a touch more cushioning.

Now, P&C offers Buy More, Save More pricing on Softy Bits, so it pays to stock up!

Softy Pipe Bits
I love these bits, which allows me clinch my pipes a lot easer and not damage the stems. I have one on each of my pipes. I need an order of the small bits, but they are out of stock. The large bits are a little large for a lot of pipes and they move slightly on the stem, requiring miner adjustment when you are smoking. The small stems my be harder to get on most pipes, but they stay in place.

Softy Pipe Bits - A Great Way to Prtect Your Pipe Stems
These Softy Bits are a great way to protect your stems from chatter, tooth impressions, and oxidation of vulcanite stems, plus they feel good to bite down on. I use them on all of my pipes. Suggest ordering both sizes to see how they fit on different stems

Not Worth the Money
I was VERY disappointed. They lasted only 2-3 days and came apart. The thicker, "larger" size are MUCH better. I would recommend the larger.

Works Great!
Received quickly. Beware moisture will collect between stem and tip, requiring cleaning from time to time.

Keep Your Favorite Pipe For A Much Longer Time
New pipe stems are hard to find, so these are great for extending the life of a pipe.

I like them. However, they
I like them. However, they need to have the sharp edge the goes on the pipe first, rounded down some.

It fit really well on my smaller stemmed pipes! Nice to clench in the teeth. Happy I have protection for my stems! Thanks P&C!!

No pipe should be without one.
Every one of your good pipes should have one of these. If you clench, you want to protect your investment from damage.

Pipes feel Better with Softy Bits
Have bought Softies quite a few times and they are particular comfy if you like acrylic stemmed pipes, giving me a soft firm grip of the bit ... The larger Bits fit my regular briars, but I get the smaller ones for my 3 cobs that have smaller stems ... small stems don't feel good in my mouth/teeth, but these softies give make them feel right in my mouth.

Softy Bits make Acrylic Stems Fit & Feel Better in the Mouth
I only buy pipes with acrylic stems, so I like the softy bit feel and they also allow the stem to fit securely in my teeth ... they grip more securely without feeling 'slippery' because of the hard smooth finish of acrylics and the feel is cushioned and not hard. I would use them on any type of pipe stem.

good stuff; salvaged one of my favorite chimneys

Very good
They work great for an 82 year old with no teeth to keep a pipe in their mouth. If you can't keep the pipe in your mouth, it falls out onto the concrete, shatters and you have to get another and break it in. bummer !

High Grade is right
Having tried the "high grade" standard, oversized, and regular pipe bits, I will try to note the differences. The regular bit protector is a softer material with more stretch to it and with a lower profile thickness that some may prefer, but tends to show tooth wear more quickly. The "high grade" standard is made of a thicker and slightly firmer rubber that has not shown as much wear so far. Size wise it fits a Sav unfinished pot like a glove and will wrap around a Sav Trevi 607 bit with more effort. The oversized "high grade" is of similar quality to the standard but about 1-2mm larger in it's resting/unstretched diameter. And of course, much easier on my teeth and wallet so far.
Customer Testimonials
Unless you have a very small pipe you need to buy these. Hands down amazing. I like to still have my hands free while smoking, before my pipe would wobble around because I didn't want to bite down too hard. Now it doesn't move anywhere. bonus- I feel like the added space around the bit helps to give me an even better draw
Love these things, good on my teeth as soft as they are. thank you for stacking a great product. jimmy california
Whats to say? They fit my MM cobs (Missouri Pride, Eaton, Legend, and Pony Express)
Love these- there is one on nearly every pipe.
Should protect the bits on my better pipes. I don't like how the "softy bits" look, but they do make clinching more comfortable.
Went back and forth on ordering these, but should've grabbed them as soon as I saw them. Very sturdy and comfortable for clenching. Grab some and give them a try... you won't be disappointed.
This is my second time ordering a bunch of these. I put them on all of my pipes to keep from marking up the stems. They work great and are very inexpensive to keep on hand.
Works great on most pipes. If you've got a stem with a small mouthpiece, such as those found on MO Meerchaum Corncobs, then this'll fit fairly loose. That said, even for those pipe, this does the job.
Great bits, I find myself clenching and chewing on the pipe from time to time. Cracked the stem on one of my cobs from biting down too much.
These feel great in my teeth and stretched even onto my largest bits.
Bits fit over my basket pipe and custom poker. So far holding up remarkably well and allow for some solid clenching.
They make my pipe bits a bit more comfortable. I have them on each of my more weighty pipes.
These are very comfy. I'll be using them on all my pipes.
These are an excellent product. The ones carried here are for large stems, that is wide stems. Smaller stemmed pipes will need the other size, which P&C does not carry at this time. These fit 75% of the many pipes I own.
Personally, I can't get used to these pipe bits. I find it very awkward to use when trying to clench the pipe in my mouth. It also doesn't fit on pipe bits that aren't very big. For example, you will not find a single Missouri Meerschaum pipe that this fits on. It is simple too big to fit around the pipe bit. I think this is something that others may end up liking a lot, but I just can't get used to it.
These feel better in your mouth than the other ones I got. It would also seem that they don't fit as snugly on my pipes as the other ones I have, but other than that they're really very good.
Not bad at all. A little thick but then again I need to get used to it. Nice to have as one who smokes when I do things with the hands.
These things are awesome. Anyone who like to smoke their pipes hands free without worrying about teeth marks, look no further.
