I am a new pipe smoker and this is the first cherry. At first I didn't know if I would even keep it in my rotation but after a couple more bowls I started warming up to it. It seemed a little fake or artificial to me or something at first. I am enjoying it now and I'll definitely finish it before trying some other cherry options.

Wanted to try it, so I bought some. Had kinda of a waxy taste. I could taste the cherry. Wasn't dry, smoked good, wasn't hot.. May try it again..

Not as good as Captain Black original

The first aroma when opening the package has a strong cherry smell, with a hint of char. The smoke is like and fragrant. And it leaves a nice aroma in the room when your done.

This is a nice smoke and doesn’t bother my tongue either! A faint sweet flavor blended tobacco. I would highly recommend.

Of all the cherry tobacco's that I have tried so far, this one is the most flavorable, with the most cherry taste and fragrance.

Not as mild as captain borkum riff cherry but just as good. Nice aroma. Pleasant to smoke.

I was expecting more of a Cherry taste and a pleasant room note. I was disappointed on both counts. It is a mellow smoke with no tongue bite or burn, but I felt I needed to re-light more often than I would like to. My wife usually likes the smell of my pipe tobacco, but she did not find this one pleasant. I will be trying some other Cherry tobaccos to find one that is a better fit for me.

I purchased the combo package of Borkum Riff Cherry Cavandish & Captain Black Cherry. Having smoked Borkum Riff for a number of years & now trying Captain Black, I find that I slightly prefer the Captain Black of it's stronger cherry flavor.

An outstanding pleasant smoke with good texture, moistness, feel and fragrance. Similar to Borkum Riff Cherry Cavandish.

GOOD TASTE, NICE SMELL

This has been my go to for over 25 years. Of course I smoke a LOT of different tobaccos, but I ALWAYS come back to this. You'll never see my humidor without at least one unopened pouch, and usually 2 or 3. Always smooth, aromatic, and even my better half likes it. It almost functions as an aphrodisiac. It's always pleasant when paired with a fine rye in the evening, or if I'm out on the lake fishing. Definitely my all time favorite hands down.

This stuff is great! Had a bowl of it after dinner and was very pleased. The tobacco itself smells awesome and it smells even better when it burns. Great stuff.

So I'm new to this but this tobacco blew me away. I ordered this and like 5 other flavors and wasn't to excited to try it. I have this other cherry flavored tobacco so i thought it'd be similar, it wasn't. The cherry taste is VERY strong (in a good way). You can absolutely taste and smell the cherry. It's not like some other flavored tobaccos with a muted taste and smell. I doubt any other cherry tobaccos compare.

I can only speak for myself but for my preference it is a bit stronger than I expected. I smoked a half bowl to try it out without issue but when I chose to smoke another later that afternoon, it was coating my throat with cherry flavor. I mixed some of the Captain Black Cherry with Captain Black Original to tone down on the sweetness, which ended up making a very enjoyable combined blend.

I'm not a fan of aromatics but I really like this one. I usually dry it out a few hours and mix some chopped cigar leaf or another strong type of tobacco.

My daily everyday go to smoke. Tin note is awesome, room not is fantastic, taste can start off a bit strong at times but it's always a smooth smoke. You really can't go wrong with Captain Black Cherry.

It’s solid; I liked the flavor but I would appreciate a deeper darker richer tone to it ; maybe I’m just too used to my cigars but either way it was enjoyable mixed with marijuana and stand alone

This blend gets a bad rap as a pharmacy blend. But I think it’s delicious.

Specifically requested by my 88 yo father, who enjoys the memorable smell of this brand for his nice pipe smoke. He particularly appreciates the packaging of this one. It makes filling the pipe easier for him and he uses it when emptied for his other tobaccos.

Woo! If you love cherry, you're gonna get a lot of it. To some, I'd imagine that would be a bad thing, but if it weren't for the fact this cherry flavor was so good and complimented the tobacco so well, I would've agreed. Everyone I shared with loved it and my wife enjoys the smell.

My second favorite of the Villiger series. Tropical Export is my favorite. Nice tasting, cool smoking and no bite. I get a delicious almost carmel like taste toward the last third of the bowl that I just can't get enough of. High quality tobacco taste also. If you like your tobacco with a nice sweet, spicy rum taste, I highly recommend this stuff.`

Guys have been giving this tobacco a bad rap, I mean they are calling it the worse tobacco in the history of ever! I chalk it up to mass hysteria, you know; like passing all the canned food in a grocery store just to straight to the toilet paper. what I like about this tobacco: good cut for easy packing, well blended, terrific burn, no bite (just so long as you don’t suck on your pipe like Kim Kardashian) the flavor...it Is like smoking Queen Anne dark chocolate with a burly zing. what I don’t like about this tobacco: (crickets chirping) I hope this helps, Cheers boys

Good after setting out a day to dry out. If you do not dry it out , it's cough syrup.

This is by far one of the best aromatics that I have ever smoked...the pouch comes completely sealed so there is no danger of it being too dry...however it isin no way too moist either. The tobacco is more finely cut than most of my other aromatics. The smell in the pouch is a mild tropical scent. Very clearly I can taste a chocolate and tropical fruit almost like pineapple and coconut when smoked.There is absolutely no bite or burn to this tobacco.I bought this tobacco in combination with another product from Captain Black as a sampler... there is no doubt that although I really enjoy that other tobacco in the sampler,this one is superior, less intense, but wayyyy more toned down and mellow in character. I will most definitely buy more of this and because I like it so much I'm really tempted to try the other tobacco blends available from Villager as well.

I have not like cherry flavored tobacco until now. The aroma was great but it burned somewhat on the hot side, it burns well and has a mild cherry flavor for taste.

I have purchased all of the Villiger aromatic tobaccos. This and the New World Export are my favorites. Th flavoring combination in this, as well as the tobacco cut and type make for a smooth bite-free smoke. Altogether, a good line of aromatics.

Picked up the sparing Match. I was pleasantly surprised with the Jamaican Export. Just enjoyed the smoke and would pick more up from time to time. The Grape Captain Black smells of grape Hubba Bubba Gum as a youth. The grape smells better than it tastes.

Ok smoke. Was pleasantly surprised by how dry it was compared to other CB blends. Neither an all day nor special occasion smoke. The pouch note and aroma was quite pleasant but the taste is very artificial. Taste like a drier CB original doused with a chemical cherry flavor. CB original isn’t my favorite but I’d prefer it to this because you can actually taste the tobacco. Probably won’t buy again but was curious about what cherry flavored tobacco tasted like.

I have just got back into pipe smoking after a long hiatus. I also finished carving the pipe I smoke. I went back to my old and simple favorite. You have to the consistency of this time honored product.

Captain Black Cherry is a great tobacco with a great flavor and aroma that is good anytime.

For those pipesmokers who can enjoy a cherry flavored blend, and I know there are a good many, I would heartily recommend Captain Black Cherry. For those who fairly disdain aromatics, I would suggest steering clear of it. It has ample cherry pouch aroma, and flavor while being smoked. The room note is also pleasant and not overpowering. Certainly not offensive to anyone, except to those who hate tobacco smoke period. But I've perennially found it to be one of the more even-tempered and flavorful cherry blends out there. It doesn't get hot or nasty like some cherry blends can. I rather think that anyone who savors the flavor of cherry along with a fairly decent quality smoke would like this. Cheers!

Captain Black Cherry gets great response from almost all who smell the aroma. It's truly a favorite of mine but i need to mention the Captains new blend (COPPER) is a very close second. All of the Captains blends are smooth smoking and enjoyable. I doubt if i would ever change to another brand.

I have been smoking this tobacco for several years but I have been unable to purchase it and had to buy subs, then I found Pipes and Cigars - who had the brand in any size I wanted to buy - they have had me as a customer for a long time and I will continue be one. This is a good rum flavored aromatic that smokes nice and cool and won't bite if you take your time with it. I don't usually smoke aromatics, but I took a chance on this one and I'm glad I did.

Personal Favorite!

This is my favorite Cherry tobacco. Alot of people dont like it because they dont like flavoring. This tobacco has an extremely potent smell/taste/flavor if you only like plain non flavored tobacco this is not for you.

All of Captain Black's blends are good, and Cherry is my favorite. My Grandfathers smoked the Cherry and the white pouch. It's classic Americana.

An old favorite that was good enough for my Grandfather, and it's good enough for me. Grandfather owned an Oliver tractor dealership in Deerfield, Michigan. He would smoke a bowl of Captain Black Cherry followed immediately by a White Owl cigar, followed by a bowl of regular Captain Black, followed by another White Owl, and he would repeat that all day long! He lived to 92. This tobacco has a pleasant smell packed with a ton of nostalgia for me; it's the smell of 20th-century rural America.

I smoked Captain Black & Captain Black Cherry many years ago. I have only recently began to enjoy my pipes again. I generally use Captain Black Cherry to blend with other tobaccos that taste good but have a lighter room note to enhance the aroma. Overall this is a good tobacco, even by itself. I am no connoisseur of pipe tobacco but I am trying to learn.

To me, the initial experience of opening a previously un-tried tobacco has been one of the things I've most been enjoying as I've worked my way through a bunch of different tobaccos. Having set that stage, I want to my review of this tobacco by saying how disappointed I was in this tobacco, pre-smoke. I expected a fragrant, mellow fruit aroma and was surprised to get hit with a smell I associate with cheap drug-store cough drops. It is a strong odor... Moving beyond my initial revulsion, though, I was extremely surprised at the mellow smoke, lack of bite, and pleasant room-note. In a funny way, this tobacco was nothing like what I expected at any of the parts of the process: It was cheap, but well-cut and acceptably dried and packed well, almost overwhelming in the pouch, but very pleasantly smoke-able in the pipe. If you're looking for something that is most certainly not an "artisan" or "boutique" brand, but is nice to have on-hand when you want something with a little cherry twist, this is a surprisingly good choice.

Umm. Well it is very Cherry.... but way to much for me. I like aromatics but this is heavy on cherry... smokes exactly how it smells. and actually ghosted my pipe. might want to dedicate a pipe to this blend if its your thing but not mine. Did burn smooth. Will not be reordering.

My favorite cherry tobacco. I love the Captain Black line of tobaccos and this is my favorite in their line up. It is mildly sweet, with a delicate cherry flavor. Not too sweet, not too overpowering. Some aromatics I find heavy and sickeningly sweet. Not this one. It had a perfect balance of sweet with a very mild bite. Highly recommended. This is the one I often smoke after dinner. The room note is wonderful too and often draws compliments.

Pouch smells like delicious red licorice. Smoke tastes like chemically potpourri.

If your looking for a cherry tobacco this is a good one from captain black. After several bowls it burns hot almost like a vapor so I pack lose and draw light and never once had tounge bite. Leaves a pleasing taste and a mild room note.

I decided to try a couple of different flavors of Captain black pipe tobacco rather than just go with the standard flavor and I was pleasantly surprised... even my wife thought that the smell was very nice, the tobacco is always smooth and never a disappointment no matter which Captain black I have tried. I am a casual pipe smoker and have tried many varieties and I keep coming back to the old standard, you won't be disappointed in any flavor

Beautiful aroma that gets complimented every time I light it. Even out of the pouch, the fragrance is balanced and fresh. The smoke is full and white, however the tobacco is bold in taste and has a bit of bite to it. For the price, this is a great, fragrant tobacco to enjoy.
